Hello folks, nVidia released new drivers, which Phil Walker was in the process of testing when the Sunflowers forum closed for posting. Here is a report from him on the new drivers!
While I regret that the forums closed down
to most of us for posting before I could finish my tests, I'm glad that Dobber
is able to as I am not. Yes, there are some new drivers available that I have
tested for those of you with nVidia cards! These work equally if not better
than the 94.24 version of before and nVidia has also corrected that the
FX-series cards are also still supported by these new drivers!
For those interested this version is the 162.18 version which you can get from
HERE (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_162.18.html). Being as I
have now completed my tests and had some others test them as well, I can now
happily suggest and endorse these drivers for those of you who have
DX9-complaint and DX10-compliant cards. I have had many different card users
test and verify these drivers do work and well, but with regret I have had
nobody to verify them with any of the DX10-compliant cards at this time (as I do not have my new card/PC as of yet). So, as with any drivers I have
noted in this thread you use at your own risk, but they are the best since I've
first started testing nVidia drivers.
So it be known, here is a list of cards these drivers support;GeForce FX5100,
FX5200, FX5200LE, FX5200 Ultra, FX5500, FX5600, FX5600 Ultra, FX5600SE,
FX5600XT, FX5700, FX5700LE, FX5700VE, FX5700 Ultra, FX5800, FX5800 Ultra,
FX5900, FX5900 Ultra, FX5900XT, FX5900ZT, FX5950 Ultra, PCX5300, PCX5750,
PCX5900, 6100, 6100 nForce 400, 6100 nForce 405, 6100 nForce 420, 6150, 6150LE,
6150SE nForce 430, 6200, 6200A-LE, 6200LE, 6200 TurboCache™, 6200SE TurboCache™,
6250, 6500, 6600, 6600GT, 6600LE, 6600VE, 6610XL, 6700XL, 6800, 6800GS,
6800GS/XT, 6800GT, 6800LE, 6800 Ultra, 6800XE, 6800XT, 7025 nForce 630a, 7050PV
nForce 630a, 7100GS, 7200GS, 7300GT, 7300LE, 7300SE, 7350LE, 7500LE, 7550LE,
7600GS, 7600GT, 7600LE, 7650GS, 7800GS, 7800GTX, 7900GS, 7900GT, 7900GTO,
7900GTX, 7950GT, 7950GX2, 8300GS, 8400GS, 8500GT, 8600GT, 8600GTS, 8800GTS, 8800GTX, and 8800 Ultra. If your card is between the FX5100 and
the 8800 Ultra, it is probably supported but missed on the list. You will also
note that none of the DX8.1-compliant or DX7-compliant cards are on this list
and why is due to nVidia no longer supporting them. So, those of you with these
cards will have to use previous drivers as well as those of you who are not
satisfied with these new drivers. I'm going to again note what drivers to
revert back to and which cards should use which versions below.
For those of you with MX-series(DX7-compliant) and TI-series (DX8.1-compliant) cards you should use the
91.47 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.47.html),
91.31 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.31.html), or
81.95 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.95.html) versions for
best results.
For those of you with 5000-series (FX) cards use the newest version, the
, the

81.95 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.95.html) versions for
best results.
For those of you with 6000- series (save 6200 and 6600 models with either no
suffixes or "E" or XT suffixes) or all 7000-series cards, use either the newest
drivers, the 94.24 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24.html),
the 91.47 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.47.html), or
91.31 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.31.html) versions for
best results.
For those of you with the cards noted in parentheses in the paragraph above, you
shoudl use either the newest version, the
94.24 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_94.24.html), the
91.31 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_91.31.html), or
81.95 (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.95.html) versions for
best results.
Again thanks to Dobber sor making this post on my behalf as I did want to pass this along but am not able
to now, and allow me to wish you all well and happy gaming!
Sincerely,
Phil
