I just noticed a news, where the ESL is looking for admins for their new WorldShift section. Seems to be only for Germany for now, but i generaly wanted to ask whether you think if the game is suitable for a league or not. So what do you think?

Here the link to the news (german language only, sorry): http://www.esl.eu/de/worldshift/news/55099/

Hi,
I am admin of RTSCups (http://rtscups.de/), a tournament site for strategy games. WorldShift looks great, but do you think its a good eSport game?
I will try out the beta in a few days ;>
If the community have interests in playing tournaments, we can organise some. But we need admins for this game.
Maybe Black Sea Studios can help us with prices ;).
I will contact them soon.

Your little cup thingie can not compete with ESL anyway.... ^^

But, what does this have to do with my posting/question in the first place?

hmm..in cnc3 we can compete the esl ;> ... because esl organise ladders and no big tournaments. additionaly the esl is fixed to german players. i dont think that they can reach the hole community, only the german (and mb european).
but we dont want to compete with the esl,..i think its good for the community if we would also organise tournaments.

I cant answer your question, cause i never played worldshift. i asked the same question (if worldshift is suitable for esport)

ESL is open for everyone. They may be founded in germany but they have leagues for nearly every european country.
They even expanded towards asia in the last few year because of the biggest tournament-prizes in WC3 worldwide.

They even have a bloody own (german) tv-station... good partner for any publisher who
wants to sell games on the germanspeaking market (germany, austria, switzerland).

PS: I'm not one of them :p

As far as i know the ESL, they will surely bring up an international section too. Although i have not found one so far...

Sadly, they have no english-only overall newspage. Just dozens of pages for all the diffrent
leagues. It depens on the support they get. But the connection still is a problem for international
leagues. So ... canadians may better join an own league ;).

Wc3-Games asia-europe are done with special hosts and tools....

Edit: They try to push people to new games... detailed preview of worldshift units (in german).
Made by a freelancer, in the league since 2002, hehe don't use your leaguenick in newsposts :D.
Oh dear, my account is from 2001, Q3CTF... good times ;).

That is not completely true. There is an international section > http://www.esl.eu/eu/
Even it is called "Europe", it is open for every country afaik.

:go:

*edit*

I just noticed there is a Demo Cup in the ESL. Even though it is in the German Section, maybe signup is open for everyone? I could not find an Int. Demo Cup (yet).

I played within the Cup and it was kinda weird. Many Def-Wins/Losses because people didn't show up and so on .. well anyway the admin will think about an intl. cup for wed / thu this week.

Weird? This is nothing special in ESL, lots of people sign up up for cups and then don't show up. By the way, i found the EU Demo Cup, but no news yet...
