PS: Blacksea allready lost like, 100 buyers from the openbeta. Now you will loose even more. I don't like it too, that other studios sell crappier games to much more people. But the thing is, they promise everything. And the players can see nothing. No openbeta, no demo, edited screenshots... thats how some of the big ones make big money.

My tip is, put it online, if possible, steam. Sell it for lets say, 15-20 euros. Heard the audiosurf-story? Sold over a million times for 9.90$ on steam, a little piece of 1houroffun-software.

I'm downloading it now, I'll post my impressions once I've had a play.

Damn what a pity I had high hopes until I tried the demo.

Pros and cons:

Pros:
1:The game looks fairly good
2:The style is nice (world)

Cons:
1:For a game wanting to make the players want good loot (aka get the mmo feeling) there is way too little customization and because of this the concept completely fails
2:Too few different units
3:The races are for the most part fairly generic
4:Selecting servers ugg dont get me started

Conclusion:
Although I like the style of the world the game will need to improve a lot before I buy it atm it feels like a half done rts and mmo are thrown together.

Exactly my first impressions until I understood the game and how the mechanics worked.

Maybe there doesnt need to be any more units (could be me needing to adjust) but the lack of customization ruins the loot collecting which is a large part of the game

Jep that is true they need more items... but I doupt that you have already seen all of them and reached the top on every tech tree.

Or have you already achieved that? did you beat bill in hardmode and got already some purples to adjust your setup?

But it is true that humans primarily get queezed into the trooper builts. I hope this will be adjusted with items until release.

And the techtrees could be update so that non trooper spam is possible in pvp :)

@Inquisitor: It is an RTS game and behaves as one. Surprise?

I see Safari is in the demo. Not a good idea, IMO.
And still no configurable shortcuts. Not that I mind in principle, but some of the defaults are plain bad.

I think the most frustrating part about safari ist the scorpion. To kill it (even through the bug it is alot easier since it spawn not those little things) it need alot of coordination.

Many new players aren't ready for that level of coordination and micro. The other bosses are great for beginngers but to place the scorpion where it is now is a little less then optimal.

Also that they took ou the deathmatch portion is a bad thing as the most interesting mode is now missing. Really a shame.

@scar

The coops are a cake for any decent wow-player. 5-10 try's and down are they, it's even easier because there are not 40 people to introduce...

Edit: Hmm how many hardcore raiders have quit wow.... hmm me aaaand this other guuuy... ah whatever ;)

Steam is one big S**T. Every time when i play game with steam i have low FPS, lagging and other problems, when i play without steam the same game i dont have any problems. The steam "eat" much of ram when is on. I am with intel C2D 1.86 16 MB L2, 2 GB DDR-2 667 MHz, Sata-II 240 GB Seagate, Ati Sapphire 2600 XT 256 mb and i play almost all games with everything on max without problem. Worldshift is cool, nice graphic and good cyber-fantasy idea ;)

This just felt like the beta to me, hopefully a single player demo will be released too, so that other people can see what the single player is like.

please stop posting such urban myths ... millions of users use STEAM w/o issue ...

don't deny the option of another new delivery to users around world JUST because YOU HATE it or have some ISSUES with it ...

i would say if WorldShift appear on STEAM it become one of top sellers (50 thousands sales at minimum just in preorder)

then add to fray another services release on GamersGate and Direct2Drive and You got covered 95% of online distribution market ...

take that STEAM can be OPTIONAL (retail boxed game build don't need it)
but now ... when STEAMWORKs is for free for anyone ...
it's more like godsend ... e.g. matchmaking for RTS like WorldShift would be great...

Me and my (2) friends downloaded the demo (in a 'hey, demo, might as well check' moment, mind you) and the game took us by total surprise. One co-op with teamspeak was all it took to make us fans, hehe.

In that sense I suppose releasing the MP demo was a grand move, simply because you'll get a lot more customers that (like me) have simply not heard of the game before but ARE interested in new concepts. Sure, you'll lose some customers who can't adapt to the concept, but you'll also gain many, and I think it's better to be straightforward, showing what you offer, than to deceive your potential customers in hopes of more gain...

I agree that Steam would be a wonderful option, though. This game isn't very widely known, and Steam would force millions of players to at least look at WorldShift. I don't suggest releasing a singleplayer demo, though, it's simply not worth it because the singleplayer itself isn't half as good, in my humble opinion of course.

I've downloaded the beta (again, with friends) after completely beating the MP demo, and to my grand surprise even got it running ^^
Beta is, if possible, even more epic than the demo was, although I must confess the singleplayer puts me off. The missions are both cheesy and a bit boring -- not at all like the powerful co-op. That, and I suppose the game would be far less interesting if you do not have friends to play it with, or teamspeak to coordinate assaults with. Can't get the beta running anymore (login error), but I'm sure I can get it running again one of these days. So far it's been a grand experience, I'll be sure to buy WorldShift on day one! :)

I dont hate steam, but is bad optimized, there is the problem. I have Orange box+ more games on steam. I use it like skype, its good optimized for chating (but very bad voice chat). If it take optimized i will use it more, i will buy more of steam games and i will give one big :go: to "valve", but it need to take optimized!!!
