View Full Version : Competitive COOP
What do you think of the idea? Map(s) where players work against one another (or against another team) to snatch the artifacts before the enemy . For example - poor dunetown expedition has stumbled upon a hidden artifact cache and now several taskforces were dispatched to get the artifacts before some of the oposition does or before the dunetowners evac the area. Just one of many possibilities.
Interactive maps... Blacksea allready goes the easy way in PvsP with the random positioning.
Anyway, it's very important now that Blacksea doesn't sell the "core of the game" to a very
small coregroupe. PvP is important for marketing. Nothing else. The core of this game are
the coop-missions.
And that is where they should spend most of their patch-time. A bone for the competitve
players now end then, ok. But a real random Itemgeneration would encourage the people to
play more coop. More hardmodes and every 5 weeks a new map.
How about a level to test equipment? Remember those starcraft-maps where you just
standing on one place, waiting for enemy-npc's to respawn and attack? Like a space-shooter
with dozens of levels, simply raising the amount of enemy's.
Edit: I don't know if blacksea has testers for things like that. In the progress of the beta it was
obvious that blacksea responded nearly directly to our complains. No internal testers in between.
Ask those few good betatesters here if they are willing to tryout new content. Give them a
timelimited CD-key, adding new time by rate of their usefullness.
(I don't count myself as a good betatester, don't play enough... I'm just have the view of 10 years game-expirience in
all types of genres ;) )
Good - I have 16 years of XP( just to brag a little :P )
I am all for new gametypes . A location map that forces one team to outplay/outsmart the other (while fighting the E) in order to get the booty for themselves seemed fun to me -that's why I proposed it.
Lol how about a "Ripper race" - only t1 melee units alowed ,whoever makes 10 laps first wins
Yeah all this small stupid shit. Training for mikromanagment and/or movement. I mean, every great online game has this stuff. Quake 3 has racetracks for movement-training. A complete modification, focusing on just one aspect of the game, even with an online racetime ladders. Or look at DoTA in WC3, ESL has a league with a few hundred players in it. A mod, focusing nearly everything on the hero and micromanagment.
Anyway, all this stuff came from... tötörötöööö the mapeditors.
PS: Hmm maybe blacksea knows all this anyway, I don't know this older game made by them... knights of honor. Still active with... mods and editors ;).
WS has the potential to become a really big modular game - with the core that we play(ed) and the extra contet comming from patches and the community. Yes- mapeditor can do this. As a matter of fact I am a little eager to try it - I have a few ideas already and I hope I will be able to put them together in maps.
I hope there won't be any ..how should I put it - limitations . For example in theory Fallout Tactics can have multiplayer cooperative maps (it was even advertised on the cover) but NOBODY was able to get around the hardcoding and actually make coop map for FoT (not in my days with the game anyway) If you get my point..
