Does KoH have any speed settings? I can't see any and it would be nice to have a fast forward sometimes.

Press + and - on the numpad; and its * reverts to normal speed.

What's the button for laptops? This game is just unplayable on my laptop because I can't increase or decrease the speed.

Every laptop has function-keys to switch some of the keys from their normal meanings to numpad-keys. Refer to the laptop's manual (usually also available at the manufacturers website if you can't locate your paper copy) for exact information for your specific laptop.

* also gets it up to 5x and 10x speeds. EDIT: By "*" I mean the asterisk key on the numberpad. (/edit)

I actually prefer 2x speed; I also think your king ages artificially quicker if your game's speed setting is faster than normal.

I sometimes use 0.5x speed at the beginning of battles and sieges when I'm setting up a formation, then restore it to whatever I want (if I want a battle to go by quickly, which is usually the case, I'll get it back up to 8x speed) when all of the commands are issued.

I didn't get the explanation.
How can I speed up, not having numpad?

They said to refer to your laptop's manual to see how to use the function keys to set up certain keys to function as numpad keys when the function key is pressed. If you don't have the manual, you should be able to acces the info at your manufacturers website.

As a last resort resolution, there was a program that could reassign keys, f.i. that the Escape key works as the Pause Key, but I can't find it anymore in the archives.

PS.: I just thought of the fact that there is an on-screen keyboard in Start->All programs>Accessories->Accessibility , so perhaps that is useful.

That is what I am using.
It's a bit upset...
