well, I guess everyone knows about them. :)

anyone watching?

Any special opinion about them? Did you watch the opening ceremony and what you think about it?

I am very pleased that the very first Gold medal went to Czech shooter Kateřina Emmons :)

my country seems to be pleasant surprise (at least for me), after 2 days our sportsmen already won 2 gold medals. A miracle, I'd say

The opening ceremony was ok, though at times it seemed too militarized, which made me think of the 1936 games.
Good propaganda for China in any case.
The games are also keeping all the attention away from the war in South Ossetia.

Cuba is doing fine in boxing and women volleyball like always. I expect them to win the last baseball Gold medal since the game is being taken out from the 2012 games. Sure hope it gets voted back in for 2016.
And they will probably do alright in athletics as well.

I was also surprised with the Czechs performance. Lets see if they can keep it up :)

Wow, what a performance from the US on the 4x100m freestyle relay!

Broke the world record(even 5h place broke it lol) and just took the gold from the French in the last second.

Take that Bernard, for speaking so much trash.

Elvain, by any chance Czechs walk around with rifles shooting stuff? lol :)

third medal Czechs win in shooting, Silver.

Cuba's girl, Eglis, surprised me by wining the bronze. She was second in the qualification round too. Interesting.

I haven't been watching the Olympics but have followed the headlines at my ISP's front page. Phelps has tied Spitz for swimming Gold's, 6 of them in world record time. One more race, will he eclipse Spitz?

I think Phelps was part of a secret government experiment, where he got fish like abilities to swim so freaking fast. :)
He is 1 race away from his 8th gold medal on the same olympic games.

I've been loosely watching but intensely following. Phelps did an outstanding job. Now then, I'm curious as to who will win? Will the United States of America, who boasts to be the greatest nation, win yet again another Olympic tournament? Or will the Chinese, with there many gold medals, and slightly rigged games prove to be able to overcome all other nations?

That video with Phelps at the 10thousanth second speed was incredible. What a super close finish!
