I considered the importing of the list from there to here, but there may be some copyright violations. Eventhough the Sunflowers forum is a public forum, everything posted there is the property of Sunflowers. We may have to get Webmaster to get Sunflowers/Ubisoft's approval to do that!

I always change the countries and I prefer the most difficult challenges, especially in the middle of europe.

I would be interested in seing separate list of just these forums (just from curiousity) but on the other hand I must admitt that here we will hardly get as many voters as in the "original" list as too many players 1) don't know about this forum yet, 2) don't play KoH anymore

but the list is here and do whatever you want with it. If you want, put it in the first post, if not we will just have it in this my post to compare the data :)

My favourite Kingdoms are Wales, Switzerland and Nicaea/Byzantia. I don't have any score to tell you at the moment, but I'll write it down when I have finished my current game with Wales.

I prefer to create new coutries via the spies. I like to create and play with Raska, Crimea.
As for the normal countries I prefer Bulgaria, Byzantia, Kiev, Kazan and Fatimids. I have beaten the game with each of the following but don't remember high scores.:cool: :D

For me, I prefer Scotland (1) as one, for I love the Isolation.

Then Italy (2) for Italy rocks,

And Finally Jerusalem (3) for it provides the biggest challenge, if you ask me, and it is fun to battle Muslims!


The best Thing about Scotland is it's isolation, so long as you deal with England, Ireland and Wales, you can focus on your economy, and when you have a large economy, you can run out and kill everyone with your Highlanders of doom!


With Scotland, I spent most of my time expanding my empire, and ended with 24716. :P

With Italy, I didn't do too well, and got 12780

And finally with Jerusalem, I spent the long years trying to fight off the Ortheodox (Me and my Christan (ex) Allies destroyed the Muslims), but gave up with a good score of 15681.


I hope to finish that game and capture all territories!

Well last night my friends I won by conquering all of Europe with Normandy (which became England) and obtained a score of 25,953.

Now to conquer the world as Scotland.

Now that the subject was raised in an unusual manner: does anybody know why there is an upper limit to the game score of around 30k? I never went for total conquest (not even once!) so I haven't tried, but does having all your cities upgraded to the maximum and a full team of nine marshalls in your court max out the score? In addition, the populace could be made as happy as possible, but since you're the last nation standing, the lead of kingdom lists is on you anyway - but perhaps the score is absolute.

Provinces, their development, wealth and military are the most important factors for the score in KoH.
Though I'm unsure about military. I know the AI makes a balance of everyone's military might to plan attacks, but I don't recall wether it has an actual influence on the points.

But the point is: Bigger treasury = bigger highscore. So finishing with 100 000 gold gives you less points than finishing with 1 000 000. The patient players can just wait for 2 hours at maximum game speed to maximize points.

I think the game tells of how strong you are before you attack, and your stratagy after you attack.
Today, while playing as England, I had built an alright arm - 4 longbowmen and 5 Swordsmen. I had 4 generals like this, and had 141 points for offense, and was on top. My close Ally, Germany, had gone to war with the entire Scandinavian front, and whenever I am in the Brittish Isles, I always attack Norway... SO I did. I declared war, and sent 3 of my guys to attack. I took 3 provinces right away in a surprise attack. I then had a score of 111, even though I had taken very few losses. I then decided to train the Marshals up a bit by plundering until the end of time. I did so. My set up was - Tactics - Admiral - Loot bonus - Speed - and quick learn all level 3 for all marshal (lots of raids for a long time). I had 122 points... Then, out of nowhere, Scottland and Wales declare war on me! Maybe an underground world? I kicked both there butts (Wales provided a challenge. They had 6 marshals with full men all around there one castle; Darn sim player), and was at 134 while the rest (Germany, Hungary etc) who had grown were all in the 180's. This angered me, so after a while I decided to go destroy Hungary. I didn't ask germany, but they joined the fight, but oh well. I sent 4 full marshals (with one guarding home) and demolished Hungary in a heart beat. The sad thing is, that one that i left at home was a spy, turned on me and I lost the Province of York. I recruited another to try and get him back, but lost him as well, to Edinburgh. Apparently I had a pool of spies, (I was blessed with 2 sons and a young king). Anyways, after defeating Hungary, I was up in the 170's while Germany had reached 210..

Anyways, I think it, in a messed up way, determains how strong you are by com paring others to you, and by your province numbers.

I once went through and upgraded all cities at the end of a game to try to enhance the score. There was very little change in the score after upgrading the cities to their fullest. And once there was no where to dispose of any gold, inflation caused a drop in the score.

My best result is with my own creation - Sultanate of Crimea - 26430 ( Total Conquest ).
I personally think that playing as a catholic kingdom isn't such a challange. Catholics have high money income, powerful units and can convert land the easiest way. It's very hard as a Pagan and Muslim. My Sultanate of Crimea was muslim and now I am going to try a pagan country.

I have just achieved my fastest victory. It took me 7:18:42 and It was Minor victory with just 2249 points of overall score. Laater I will maybe post a screenshot. Funny thing is that from total 16 provinces only 2 were conquered by military power (2 bohemian provinces, 2 won as result of a war from Poland and Suzdal, 4 inherited and 7 taken when my spy became king of large principality of Suzdal - yes, in total it is 17 because I lost Moravia to the Germans and had to reconquer it)

Hi Elvain – 7+ hours to complete a game is real fast (I presume on hard) – you were really moving. For me games on hard seem to always become very long – I’ve taken a few past 12-15 hours but never completed them as the repetition gets to me. They all remain on my computer in case I get back to them.

He must be collected all the Kingdom Advantages. That brings up the "Accept the minor victory" dialog.

From 37 provinces i am down to 14 and am still under siege almost everywhere.

I have lost France, Germany, Poland and Ireland. I am in the process of losing England...

When my King and his son were murdered, 1/2 of my kingdom was split between more than 12 kingdoms...all at war with me. Each one has been sending 2-3 armies against me...about 24 enemy armies assaulting my different castles/provinces.

But now it seems like i've been able to stabilise at 13 provinces...i managed to make peace with many kingdoms so the pressure is getting lower and i am preparing for the counter-attack...:cool:

funny thing is that except the very beggining I gave almost no support to Serbia, and since they became the second most powerfull nation I rather supported their foes to push my first vassal back to a possition from which he could vote for me, but the orthodox nation succeeded to emilinate several catholic nations from the map, amazing!

Thanks, man :) I didn't conquer all of Asia Minor yet, half of it still belongs to Cyprus, which is my vassal (the island however is mine :D ) I've got two 5-star spies and every time I send one he becomes a marshal. Damn, don't they need merchants :D Actually, half of my territories came from spies - I inherited Wales, the spy handed over the crowns of Burgundy, Castillia and Algires, I annexed Switzerland, Aragon and Ilklahids...with each one of them with about 5 provinces it makes about 30 provinces "conquered" by spies :D And I've REALLY got to stop writing ;)

P.S. Actually, I've got a little problem on the interface - I don't know which key I pressed but the names of the towns don't appear. It's not F12, I tried that. Everything is fine, just the names don't appear. Any suggestions :?

Don't remember my score, but I like making loads of rebels and make them into smaller countries named after provinces. Takes loads of luck normally, but I usually cheat just to set it right, then decide to not cheat for the rest of the game. I renamed a kingdom after myself, and made Silesia(Poland), Valencia(Cordoba), Mercia(York/England), Scania(Denmark/Sweden), then make a huge alliance including Leon.

But without cheating/modding, I would pick Leon. Fun to beat up France and Britain. Then maybe Germany...

I play with Epir (successor state of the Byzantine empire) at the most difficult level and with no pause during battles. It is hard in the beginning cuz it starts with war against bulgaria , Serbia , Athens or Venice but it is entertaining.
My goals :
1 - Fortify Epirus province
2 - Conquer a muslim province
3 - Accept the muslim religion
4 - Convert Epirus province to muslim religion
5 - Offer the muslim province as a gift to the empire i conquered it from in order to improve the relations
6 - Start conquering provinces around me and convert them to muslims , fight against the crusader armies or call for jihads when u do not have good enough marshalls or armies to fight them :p
7 - Conquer a province that gives the opportunity to build university , and have a 5 star cleric govern it for more books production.
8 - After conquering 20 provinces claim the throne of Europe so all big powers will declare war on you
9 - Win every single war
10 - No more conquers and wars , time for espionage (with 2 kings)
11 - Gaining territory with inheriting ( with the next 2 kings )
12 - Focus only on economy and fortify every single province , build merchant's guild and holy mosques wherever possible.
13 - Conquer and convert to muslim religion the rest of Europe.

This is the hardest scenario i thought of , anyone has some ideas of how to make it harder and more entertaining? Until now i have achieved my 7th goal and i am currently at war with all big powers.

In my playing with Croatia in the Middle eastern Scenario i have these goals-
1-Fortify my province(Hrvatska)
2-Beat other kingdoms by economy not military
3-Litelarry buy out their provinces
4-Make huge army
5-Convert every province on the map to Christianity(whichever,i dont care,just so it is Christian)
6-Rulez the Orient...

Well , first it is harder to play against a huge majority of catholic kingdoms with a muslim kingdom because of the crusades. I have finished the game many times with Epir , i already played before with epir and re-united the byzantine empire. It has been 3 years that i play this game and i am trying to make interesting scenarios so i can enjoy it again.
Another reason is the music of the game when your kingdom is muslim :D , a relaxing oriental music (it does not play all the time , but when it does it is amazing).
And i also love watching those peasants come out of the mosques to fight against the infidels during a jihad ( the jihad armies , most probably u have never seen them in the game but believe me it is fun ).
Another important reason is the marshall morale. If u put the skill of higher morale against different religions (+6 maximum) than u have an advantage considering that if you are muslim most of your wars in the game will be against non muslims and 2-3 wars against muslims.

By the way , in the latest patch it is very profitable to build merchant guild. Also if you don't have any trade agreements you can put a merchant to govern that province so it gives more gold. The more skilled the merchant , the more gold you get from that province. I give priority to conquering provinces with mineral deposits and fertile soil so i can build merchant guild. A +2000 gold economy is good and a fast way to develop since you force most buildings after some time.

As for the armies i prefer these skills:
1 - Camp fortification
2 - Admiral skill
3 - Leadership
4 - Morale against different religion
5 - Can carry siege weapons
6 - Damage done by siege weaponary

And i use 4 squads of Roman Infantry , 3 squads of archers and 2 squads of Pronairs mostly. After some time i start using Varangians , Jenissary (or however it is spelled) and Cataphracts.

Epir was today's north greece and south albania. They were orthodox and part of the byzantine empire but they were not greeks. Albanians say epir was albanian , greeks say it was greek.
Dyrrachion (one of epir's provinces) is today's Durres in Albania very far away from Greece and all evidence found there are roman or albanian. On the other hand Arta is in today's greece but i have no idea of what evidence is found there. Was part of epir for sure.

Well there is evidence found that the name was used also before in the region. It was called Epir since 250 bc , when the places around were populated by tribes.
I am not saying it was ruled by albanians , but a good part of it was in todays albania (as territory) . In Dyrrachion there are no evidence showing that the place was ruled by greeks either. Moreover , Phyrrus of Epir was killed by greeks , so doesn't make much sense.
Butrinti for example , is in the very south of Albania but it was settled by trojans and then fortified by venetians (according to Virgil , a roman poet). The only greek thing there is it's amphitheater style.
As far as i know there was greek population in Thessaloniki , Athens , Crete(ruled by venice) and Nicaea. Mostly in Nicaea which was the greek part of the Byzantine empire.
Trebizond was also a successor state of the Byzantine empire , but it's population was not greek , nor were it's rulers. Actually even today in that region people do speak an old very interesting language (except from turkish).
What i am trying to say is that Byzantine empire was a multicultural empire , populated by many different people with different origins. There were greeks in majority , but they were mainly in Nicaea region.

The gold production of the city is now 78. It looks interesting as fortifications decrease the gold production in a province , which i think is a very good idea.
I realised a small bug though , your relations with a country improve more if you release their prisoner than if you give them a province as a gift.

This is a Knight of Honor behavoir. It will impressed all Kingdoms. In this moments you can make good agreements. The AI becomes a skilled knight back and your relations grow up. But sometimes you need more than one knight that the AI stop the war.

I found a good way of fortifying the castles and still being good economically.
I will just keep the gold production at 1 or 0 in every city , and for buildings i will make the plunder skill which gives 2000 gold for every plunder. I will use that gold to build :)

I am not Turkish , even though i know the language because i study in Istanbul. My father is Albanian and my mother is Greek. And yes , there are non-nationalist turks :p i know many.
Byzantine empire was multicultural, wheather you agree with it or not. It's not me saying this. It's the historians. It was part of the roman empire which later was divided and the eastern part of it became Byzantine empire. There were populations of different religion and nationality in that empire. Pyrrhus, you seem to mix apples with oranges. You speak anout Helenic period as if it was Byzantine and vice versa. Byzantine empire was multicultural, but the nobility and ruling elites were predominantly Greek. That doesn't mean there were no non-Greeks among the elites (it is well known that there were some pretty important Armenians etc).

After Constantinople had fallen in 1204, some of the ruling elites have found successor states, such as despotate of Epir and empires of Nicaea and Trebizond. I never said that 100% of those states' population were Greeks - there is no evidence for such statements*. But it is more than clear that the ruling elites of those 3 states were Greek, at least in the beggining (they all claimed their Roman=Greek ancestry in order to be respected as successors of the Romans=Byzantium). That was the reason why I (and BSS before me as well as modders of Paradox games which are well known for their historical pedancy) made Epiriot despots Greeks in the Middle East scenario (ok, we finally got back to the topic)

If you confuse this period with periods of king Pyrrhus of Epir, who fought the Romans (the Latin Romans) in 2nd or 3rd century BC, you should learn some more history.

PS: domagoj. It is normal that the discussion here turns into history dispute. but what does SOAD have in common with medieval Epir and Byzantine empire?

* we can only dispute which was the written language they used - we can't trace what language did they use for daily communication, and it is even harder to reveal what was their ethnic/genetic origin. Concerinng the written language, I'm not an expert, but as far as I know, in most of the Byzantine period (the object of our interest - I suppose - as we discuss names of medieval despots of Epir) the cultural language of Epirus was Greek. I'm not trying to deny existence of Albanian population in the mainland as well as Italian merchants and possibly also burghers in the coastal cities, I'm just trying to explain that the nobility was mostly identifying itself as Romans (so Greeks). I know you are right in what you said above. I just responded to damagoj in the very beginning who said Epir was greek. Being greek and being ruled by greeks are two different things i think.
Then i wrote about phyrrus of epir to show him that even chronologicaly that region was not greek , even though at some point of the history it was ruled by them.
Anyway , how can i fix these crashes? I had fortified Epir , Dyrrachion , Appulia and Hellas :(

I like playn one province kingdoms mainly Wallachia or Moldavia cuz they are in the area where I live I conquered the world once but since the latest patch i find even obtaining the tittle of Emperor very demanding before the latest patch after 3-4 elections i could become Emperor no sweat but now i find myself making much more calculations before I act cuz the game is much more difficult i recomend everyone to apply the latest patch and then try to become emperor or conquer the world(curently in progress) cuz the old versions or even mods become ridiculos easy after geting like 5 provinces.
