View Full Version : "Realm without region"

As suggested by some people, I'm trying to use the "europe map" for my scenario "Kingdom of Italy".
I took an "europe map", I erased all I didn't need and I painted Corsica et Sardinia.
But now there's a problem.

When I add a realm which name is the same of the Europe game (ex. "Corsica"), all is ok, but if I add a realm with a different name (ex. Gallura, in Sardinia), appears a window with the inscription "REALM WITHOUT REGION" and the game crash. :bash:

I read a thread in ancient forum, but it was without answer.
I tried to change all files I can
- kingdoms_800.ini / kingdoms_1000.ini / kingdoms_1200.ini
- realms_climate.ini
- realms_religion.ini
- towns.ini
- knights/regions_800.ini / regions_1000.ini / regions_1200.ini

Does anyone know the solution? :(

when you create new realm which isn't listed in knights/regions_800.ini / regions_1000.ini / regions_1200.ini you have to list it there, either under some of existing nationalities or create new one (such as italy.in2) where it will belong

First of all, thank you for your fast answer.

Then...
I did so.
That's my "regions-800.ini"

Is it correct?

Name is "italia" and not "italy" because I found it so in the original "region_800.ini"
If I add Corsica, or Tver or a realm with names of original game, it works good.
But if I add Arborea, it crashes even if I put "arborea" in my regions_800.ini (and in _1000 and _1200 too).

in my experience the game crashes, but you can continue when you click "ok" on the announcement of Realm without region

the name has to be spelled exactly the same way it is spelled in the realms.ini file
when I put all names into this file the problem disappeared. It is better to list all the names of planned realms into the file BEFORE you put them on the map, that will save you these crashes happening after you save the map.

I'm not sure, but put it also in regions.ini, that should solve the problem

PS that italy.in2 was just an example

I wrote all realms in files "realms.ini" and "regions.ini" but game crashes :(
Each time I save or load, I have that odious "Realm XXX without a region".
I fear to add other kingdoms and realms, because I don't want to work a lot for nothing.

I noticed that if I work on a blank map generated by editor, I can add realms without problem. If I work on an "europe map" blanked, I have problems.
Maybe something is hidden somewhere and I'm not able to find and erase it.

well, I'm afraid I can't help you...

Thank you a lot.
We'll agree by PM.

Mi suspect is pointed at file map/realms.dt , that I wasn't able to open or edit.
Maybe it has some string about regions and realms.

Maybe I resolved the problem!
In file map.ini I found that even if I change the name of the map, it remains the link to original map named "europe".
So it reads file from "europe" folder, and not from "Italy" (my folder).
Now I changed map name in map.ini file from "map/europe" to "map/italy" and now it seems to work.

Maybe is it the protection of Saint Elvain? :)

I'm getting this strange feeling of deja vu... :p

please, I'm no saint nor nothing. I took a short look at it an only I can say now is really nothing, coz I had just some 5 minutes and will not have any time till wednesday.

So I hope you really solved the problem. if you stored your scenario in diferent folder and didn't overwrite the files in maps/europe/... it could be the problem (I always rewrite the original (backuped) folder when making a change, perhaps you just opened another way :go:
And please, don't say those things about me. I feel really bad when seing such things

No, it's slightly obvious he just likes the Orient, but you can tell he also likes Bohemian/Central European history as well, this doesn't make him muslim.

Haha, he is from Czeh republic, so he can't be ;)

There are muslims in the Czech republic, but not alot. What you meant to say is:

Haha, he is from Czech republic so there is big possibility he is not muslim.

why? number of people around me actually are muslims as well as jews and christians, my country is religiously very tolerant

You'r country is very tolerant mainly because of it's history of religion's destructive force and it's atheist population.

One last thing, let's get back to topic?

1. is it really important for you (you in plural) if I am muslim or christian or buddhist?)
but no, saints just were some of many good people on earth - and very few of those good people were canonized and became saints.. and many much better bepople didn't, does it mean anything?

yet everyone but me (and Frujin etc.) is Junior member :D

1. I disagree, a saint is just someone loyal to the Catholic Church etc. but please back to topic
and no, for someone like me, it doesn't matter if you are pagan, christian, muslim or whatever you might be, I am a tolerant person, maybe if someone asks it's just out of curiosity? Maybe another reason I asked is because you might have previously said you are a very religious christian on a controversail DMZ?

2. Nope, I was a member before, not like it matters alot anyways

It doesn't help when you keep asking everyone to stick to the topic, but at the same time stray offtopic yourself, don't you think? {Question does not need an answer in this thread!}

I've got an idea: if you find anything you want to react upon, but doesn't fit the topic (since that would make the threadmore unreadable and, especially, unsearchable for answers [which is why the topics are archived anyway, I guess]), you quote the post to react upon in a new topic in the Thirsty Lamb. {Idea does not need confirmation or counterarguments in this thread!}

And perhaps the forum needs moderators to say things like this, but this is a subject to be talked about in a different topic!

I agree, I just got carried off by the annoying saint thing, it was everywhere after all! I have said before, and agree with you, that the forum needs moderators, since Frujin hardly comes on to do moderator work, and he shouldn't be anyways! He should be making games right?
