View Full Version : Is it possible that the AI builds all the defence facilities?
I am using Laudan's MOD HARD InvasionEconomic 24.08.08. It is a wonderful MOD,but I have some questions.
The AI usually builds irrelevant and unnecessary buildings, many of which are removed immediately I conquer the town .As to defence facilities,they only build a stone wall( sometimes there's nothing), and I have never( or seldom) seen offensive buildings such as ballista towers,gate towers(cauldrons),drum towers(catapults),which make it very easy to conquer a town.
I think that if the AI builds all the defence facilities,the game will be much more challenging and interesting.In addition to that,I hope that the AI can recruit a little more advanced uinits instead of peasants or swordsman for the city army. In fact,I hope the AI promotes as many as marshals as they can to attack me or defend their own castles.
Is that possible?

The MOD HARD is balanced enough. The AI build all buildings and bulwark you can see often. I want not have that every town have ballista towers till drum towers. These buildings you will not see too much. By the way, if the AI have laddermens and good fighters so your own cauldrons or catapults will not help you.
In addition to that,I hope that the AI can recruit a little more advanced uinits instead of peasants or swordsman for the city army. In fact,I hope the AI promotes as many as marshals as they can to attack me or defend their own castles.
You will see from the AI better units than peasants or swordsman. Play it longer.
In the end have the AI better units as you have.
Last notice: MOD HARD InvasionEconomic works only with the patch 1.05.

In \defs\Economy\ai_build.in2 there is the possibility of controlling what the Ai builds during war and in what order, if I remember correctly. It's possible to add generic buildings as well (like a market). Perhaps this method will help you to make the Ai build all defence facilities.

Unfortunately, ai_build.in2 doesn't seem to affect the AI very much.
My observation is that the AI randomly builds everythin it can afford. Give it more money and it will be more likely to build expensive defensive structures.

My thoughts were that the AI would build randomly during peacetime (based on building cost) and follow the ai_build in wartime, that is, build buildings from the first level in random order first, then from the second level in random order and so on. Apparently and pityingly I was wrong then.
