Hello Friends!
For the first time ever you can have a short glimpse of WorldShift in motion. We updated the Trooper unit page at the official website (http://www.worldshift-game.com) and now there is a short movie showing some action.

Now I made a serious glance upon the video... well, I can say that actually it's not such a problem. I guess there is no need of adding extra animations...
As for the critics - I don't like very much the color of the lasers - I think they are too bright, but maybe that's only with me, I guess :D
I noticed that the troopers at sometime stopped running and started walking... will there be some kind of an endurance system? (sorry 'bout the offtopic).

No, there is no Endurance value that can affect your Troopers speed. There are other effects and units' abilities that can affect it thou!

Excellent, WS keeps looking great.
By the way is that one of the in-game songs we will hear when playing? Is Glorian making the music for Worldshift? ? If so keep it up, sounds as good as Koh's music :D.

And True, the laser or whatever-it-named-by-BSS is a bit too bright.
The lasers are awesome. Especially when fired from all dirrections.:D

If you mean the last scene - I saw the exlosion, but I don't think that's a grenade :
Trooper Abilities:
Throw Grenade (passive)
The Troopers can sometimes throw a grenade at their target, causing some damage in a small area. To do so, there must be no friendly units nearby.
And the explosion was right in the middle of the melee... :?
Plus, I didn't see a grenade there.
But I saw a trooper throwing one, 2 scenes after the lone red trooper standing on the cliff, and 2 scenes before the 2 purple troopers cross the bridge...

Well, It if the friendly units in area effect of the grenade if it thrown.
Anyway it's not Melee .It's skirmish. Melee is by melee weapons. We saw them fight using ranged weapons.At any rate I hope my computer can wishtand Assassin's Creed and Worldshift!
Well, seems like our ideas for skirmish and melee don't exactly match...
Maybe the mistake is mine, I don't know...
But that batlle was between troopers and reapers, witch are melee units... (aren't they?)
And the explosion was somewhere there...
Btw, what exactly is skirmish... (couse definetly we have different ides...)

That's one of the things that has always bug me about this kind of games. However I can Imagen how hard it would be to code that in so the ai would use the environment around it. Now some feature like that would truly be revolutionary in the industry.

A skirmish is something like a small scale battle. For example, most of the 100 years war btw France and England was mainly fought through skirmishes of small detachments of units that combine made no more than 2 or 3 hundred men.
Battle = Big armies fighting eachother
Skirmish = small detachments of troops fighting eachother
There can be skirmishes within a battle as well.

PS: I think most battle in WS will be skirmishes. The unit number is not big. Unless you play online 10 player VS 10 Players

I think it will be 6 players max. 3vs3.
Indonesia War Minister if your machine can handle Assassin's Creed it will handle almost anything. I have to raise money for upgrade to play AC and maybe WS.

In the video you do see a trooper launch a grenade (clip with 2 troopers standing side by side). The explosion that others have mentioned however does not occur as a result of a grenade. If you watch you will see that the explosion at the end of the video is from a ripper being destroyed.

I heard from Worldshift in "Gamestar" and i must say: Holy shit! It looks great, it sounds great and i think here comes a game where go in the history of gaming! Great works

Hey, BSS, from what you have shown us, I suspect WS has enough units ready (at least ready enough to be shown) so, I guess you can show us a lot more.
So, when do we expect the next trailer?

Dawn of War had buildings and is NOT the first squad based RTS. WS may be "like" some other games but this doesn't mean it can't be innovative.

Good quality of models and texture. Nice overall environment , trees and stuff.
Pathfinding seems to be very nice, men moving in a group move naturally assuming that people in font of them are also moving so they won't obstruct them in the next second. Usually AI has problem with moving units in a group.
Bad things:
Animation is the same for all men, probably a placeholder, but now they all move like machines, pretty primitive and lifeless. The armor style just adds to that.
Weapon fire looks very unreal, mostly because people just stand without movement at all and fire. Seems that they are using water guns.
PS
At the beginning, in close up of a single trooper, then he stands and lifts the gun up with one hand. The motion looks unnatural because he moves the gun to the 70 degrees angle with one hand and then holds it and moves down. This is not right, this position is the most stressful, if weapon has decent weight human won't stop the movement at this angle, but rather move it all the way up to 90 degrees so the barrel will be straight up and then hold it. This is because this position is much more stable and does not require a strain of a hand on the handle which happens then you hold it at the middle angle to the ground.
Also the movement speed is constant, so it looks like there is no weight to the weapon or its a machine. Human would move weapon with a acceleration at the start pushing it up and then slow down near the 90 degree angle to maintain balance.

hey, cmon i am not talkin about DoWs general gameplay! i mean the combats and the character design and function, but this is nothin negative!:cool:
even if it is not a first squad based RTS game, in the campaign u often have this modification of few units 2 (&adding leaders and medix) making them more powerfull instead of fighting with an huge army...
thats why i liked DoW, and why i will sure like WS too!;)

You are right Nomen Nescio. I have thought about this one but didn't mention it. The game is still in early stages and I hoped BSS will make the improvements. Only time will tell.

It's really appreciated from my side... I was expecting a "trailer" since I know of WS Game
I Hope to have it soon... because it's also exciting those kinda wars, all those lasers seems to be Star Wars Episode II: The attack of Clones :p

There is a Bulgarian magazine for games called Gamers' Workshop and they had coverage of GC07. The guys saw a presentation of WS and talked a bit with BSS. They say it is the most beautiful strategy ever made and the guys from GameSpy have said the same thing. The guys said "Isn't it too common to make strategies" and BSS answered that WS won't be just another strategy. It will be more like a MMO Strategy. WorldShift will be playable by everyone.
Can you post link of the on-line version of GW's interview if there is any? I don't have time to go to the kiosk... (lil bit lazyyy)

No, you are wrong. There is one - Blitzkrieg. The interface have button which force units to run for cover.

Blitzkrieg is a popular game with 11538612962604962086 expansions made by a large team ;)
I agree about the troops standing still while firing.
They should move atleast a few milimeters (from close-up).
It will give the game a far more realistic view. ;)

And Faces of War also have your unit run for their live.
(Altought is laggs alot. In my computer)

Quite easier (suppose so) is to make them crouch when start firing. Better if u can make the front line crouch so the second can shoot above them.
Anyway, great work from what i've seen so far, guys. Keep it up.
And when the enemy charging to them, the troopers in first line retreat to behind the second line, then second line to behind the (was) first. Then it happens again, happens again, et infinetum (at least until they stumbled upon a roadblock . Like rock, ect.) and make Infantry can go in houses!
