View Full Version : How do I get KoH to load my files?

I want to be able to unite my own kingdom, so I used PakMan to extract some files into my own little folder. I copied unite_england.ini and made my own out of it. I have made my own file, but my question is - how do I get Knights of Honor to load it? Do I have to replace existing files in order to do so?
Considering y'all is modding, shouldn't it be easy to answer?
yes, you have to replace the old file.
Before you do that, it's always better to backup the file (or at least keep the .pak)

When I select the files I've exported, I right click and replace content>of selected files>by corrosponding files in a specified directory...I select my folder with the files in, it replaces, I save. It still doesn't show up on the list of .ini's.

you just extract the files in PakMan into original directory and then edit them there.
But PakMan works only one-way.
After editing the files, just leave them where they are (in the original directory, though!) and the game will read them.
This doesn't work only with the Texts.pak

Yay, it worked! Might have to work a bit on it, since my stuff didn't trigger properly, but it does read the files. Thanks for it.
btw, for the England quest, you can check Holy Rome map-changes. Quite many such quests are edited and/or added

So I don't have to upload them back from original directory to PakMan ? the game will read them from original directory and ignore the europe.pak file?

well, I've done everything to make Raska in 800 a separate kingdom and when I start the game Raska is still in Bulgaria...

don't know the problem :( maybe someone can do all the files for raska and send them to me?

PS. Ive let the Europe files only, in the original directory. Texts and defs I've edited trough PakMan.
You must change the both TrainUnits files.
the crucial file is kingdoms_800.ini
Are you sure you have removed provinces given to Raska from Bulgaria?
It is the only problem that ignores the change and doesn't crash the game.
Other is that you have to edit number of kingdoms in the kingdoms_800.ini or put all relations into the bottom part of the file - but both of these would cause crashes and won't let you load the game.

You must change the both TrainUnits files.
but there is Raska already... prepared as a separate province ;)
train units has no effect on appereance of the kingdom on the mapp - it only gives units to the kingdom.
The problem is somewhere else
well, I've done everything to make Raska in 800 a separate kingdom and when I start the game Raska is still in Bulgaria...Well, you'll have to double-check your work. Did you remove the province from Bulgaria and create the new kingdom Raska which consists of that province? Did you add relations for your new kingdom? And throughout the different files, did you use the same (new) number for the new kingdom?
Kingdomnamepos, trainunits, the text files etc.: these are only visual. If your modification does not work, it has to be one of the other files.

I did take province 25 from Bulgaria and add it to Raska and as capital! but now that you mentioned it I haven't edited the relations, how does it work?
BTW in kingdoms raska is 106th and in kingdoms_800.ini Raska is 65th? is this good?
Edit: One more question, how can I change the flag of Serbia when united in 800?

OK, I've edited relations too and its the same... I've put "border = 1" to bosnia, zeta, hungary and "border = 2" to bulgaria.
I entered the game and still the Raska is in Bulgarian, still I started the game as Bosnia, and when I entered the political view and "religion" this appears:

Why did you post religious map and not political? Religious tells us nothing about the problem.

Anyway. Did you check that you increased the number of kingdoms in the top of Kingdoms_800.ini?
Also, better put one more Raska into the kingdoms.ini (106 = Raska).
Also check, that Raska has no borders on other countries and that all numbers are right (I personaly sometimes forget to rename ALL copied relations and add the one with the last kingdom - 105 in this case) - I mean these:
[105,106]
state = 3
relation = 0
trade = 0
borders = 0
The last step is to put the kingdom in via map editor (as this is the early period, it would not be so very hard), but if you have never used the editor before, I would better not recomend it
As for the flag in unite_serbia quest, check this thread (http://forums.blackseastudios.com/showthread.php?t=277), it gives you the right way. ;)

sometimes it's good to use "Search" option on this forum. I know it might take ages to find what you want (too many threads asking about the topic and no help there) and therefore it's usually easier to ask, but to be honest - when I'm answering the questions here, I usually search for the answer (no, I really don't know it all:))
On the other hand, that's why we are here - We, more experienced modders, have most probably encountered these problems and if don|t know the answer, we at least know, where to find it, so it takes us only few seconds, while you could have searched for it few minutes. It's just about some primitive questions - not this case ;)
Btw, can you edit your signature? It can and will be viewed as a strongly nationalistic and very offensive provocation to many/all Bulgarians here. And we don't want provocations here, don't we?

Ljudislav, If nothing else, such nationalisticaly looking statements may cause personal blocks against you and may - in the end - convince those, who feel harmed, not to help you. Me included (though I'm not Bulgarian - I'm only against everything what even feels like nationalism)

Political map only shows raska as Bulgaria, but Religious map shows weird stripes I only wanted to show them, cause maybe then someone would know the problem...

I copied Sweden, forgot to remove borders with Norway and Denmark (I did forget that before I posted the last posts and then I remembered :))
