I guess you ask about the history of england ?
You definetly have to play ROME : TOTAL WAR with it's great mod INVASIO BARBARORUM. There you can play as the 'Romano-Britans'. These people was a romano-celtic mix (though the roman influence on their culture dissapeared very fast after the drawback of the Roman Empire). Together they repeled several invasions of the Anglo-Saxons, often with the help of anglo-saxon mercenaries. When these mercenaries revolted they became the local rulers. Then a real colonisation took place and the celtish people were forced to evade to the hills of wales, cornwall and the north. I think the few real 'romans' assimilated with them quickly.
History in other roman provinces in western europe probably was similar to this.
I think I read somewhere that the vikings mainly were concentrated in Northumbria and there influence is still visible there because many of the today-northumbrians are blond and blue-eyed.

The romans stayed in rome. Slowly intertwined with other cultures becoming modern day Italians.
The Anglosaxons vikings didn't disappear either. After the Normans took over England their culture just slowly changed becoming intertwined with the britons, romans, normans,etc...
to become the English.

in 440 commander of the west Flavius Aetius established contacts to the last roman city states in britannia. After that there's probably king Arthurs rule in which reportedly roman and celtic culture mixed.

At least recently it seems they deteriorated from being Vikings to being Pirates (http://www.faz.net/m/{16ED27B0-0E93-45B5-A4B4-7EC0E25C0188}Picture.jpg).
Well, close enough. :)
