I just watched the news and there was a toppic about bulgarian elections. They said that a party of a former karate-fighter (the mayor of Sofia) did win the election. WTF ? Is that right ? I really can't believe that anyone in Germany would elect a karate freak.

I also heared that the turko-bulgarian party got good results. About 20 % ! They are far more important than I thought.

Yes, I voted for him too
He isn't only former karate-fighter, but THE BEST ex police officer too....fireman and a guard...
HE is probably the best possible man for the job.
turko-bulgarian party got good results- About 13 % with votes from bulgarians in Turkey who can vote 2 times \one there and once here\, witch isn't legal but...
The nationalistic party- ATAKA has 10 % and the former COMUNIST party- 17%

eedit- turko-bulgarian party will be "banned" ASAP as it's not legal too....

Btw, GERB (the party of the mayor of Sofia, member of the ENP) won with such a devastating victory mostly because of the very high voting activity (60%), which was largely inspired by an internet campaign (Facebook etc.) and the horrible choice of the commies to start a very stupid black-PR campaign against GERB, when it was clear they're losing the fight (the BSP).

P.S. Interesting thing: when we were driving to go to my old school for the voting, less than half of the cars I saw on the highway were Bulgarian, while the others were mostly D (German) and NL (Dutch), with 1 A (Austrian), HU (Hungarian), RO (Romanian) and GR (Greek). All of the German and Dutch ones were full with Turks and women covered in veils and so was the gas station where we stopped (literally filled to the max with Turks and veiled women, I felt like I'm in Iran or something). And yet we still won, despite of the "election tourism" the DPS (Turkish party) uses so massively. Too bad GERB would probably need 2 full mandates in order to root out the DPS and the commies, since he would first have to change the administration etc. which is strongly occupied by them. And since Bulgarians seem to always vote against the currently ruling party/coalition because of our too-high expectations, that could prove to be a problem...
