View Full Version : The struggle of the British Kingdom of Cornwall

King Brede sat in his mead hall and studied the map of his realm.
He had become king just a day before following his brother on the throne, because he got killed by some fanatic pagans from the neighbour kingdom Wessex.

That was what he could see:

He had herited some merchants and also a war with a kingdom on the other side of the canal. These Franks will get to know me, he thought.
Under his reign the British no longer would be oppressed by saxons or angels or franks.

He knew that he could not just bring an army to Neustria to invade them, because the economy of Cornwall was shattered. So he decided to build up some infrastructure like a granary and a well.
He himself looked over the work as builder, because he was educated in Roman architecture.

But after two years the peasant army of his marchal was ready and he sent them over the Canal.
Unfortunately the Neustrians had a bigger population and therefore even more peasants then the Cornish marshal:

So Brede decided to retreat and attack them bastards in a better moment:

Lucky fortune. The King of Wales declared war on Cornwall, "Because he needed more money".
"He will see, what kind of payment he will get", Brede thought and sent his armys straight way up to Wales.

From then on everything came in a rush. The peasants took Wales, marched to Wessex, whose king also had wanted more money, captured this town. Then they rested in Cornwall to fill up the food stores and sailed to Hibernia. There the Picts got overwhelmed. At last the peasants took the Pictish Capital because the marchals got so terrifying to the enemys that they just fled from the battlefields at sight of Brede's armies.
Brede himself considered to change his profession. He skilled himself to be a cleric and started to convert those pagan provinces to the one and only catholic religion:

More to come. I have three more pictures already, that are not posted yet.

Nice ! I certainly will keep reading this, although you might want to start a new campaign with Invasio Barbarorum 1.9 ...

edit : oh and btw, why did you chose Cornwall ? I thought all players would choose Eastern Empire or Muslims...

Not all of us are Byzantine fanboys. And I generally prefer the "barbarian" nations anyway - they're quite more romantic. ;)

Lol I (Bulgaroktonos) understand why you Bulgarians don't overly like Byzantium. But what is more romantic than 1000 year old empire standing as a torch of wisdom and culture against spreading barbarism ?

I respect Byzantium quite much, but it's just too meh for me from a gaming point of view. Just as I don't really like the ancient Rome, but prefer the Germanic barbarians.
Though you're right - sorry to Eurus for derailing the thread. And keep the AAR going, mate! ;)
