BIG Thanks to Angryminer for GOG mode (sorry all this time I thought that I played MODHARD but a few days ago I discovered that it was GOG 1.6)
I played GOG 1.6 mode using it over 1.03 and 1.05 patches and found out an annoying problem. When I conquer a new province, amount of books that required to convert it is 1650 and maximum that we can have is 1000 ( its all fine with me as it slows the
convertion of new provinces and forces player to actually keep an army in newly taken provinces untill nostalgia falls to 6 ( I believe ) and that is just enough to convert the province
( in that case its is 950 books if I remember it correct)).
The bug of the mode is that once u save the game and leave from KOH and lets say load it again later nostalgia in provinces that were taken before save and after it never goes down
which is 1650 books and I can't expand cause rebel loyalists keep coming. I have max 1000 books and can't convert any new provinces at all.
If author is still here please look into that .
OTHERWISE I have no complains about mode, only praises.
thx in advance.

You could just change the max books to 1650.

hi, shtopor.

Just to explain basic problem:

Angryminer's GoG mod was made for 1.03 patch and wasn't updated for quite a long as he diesn't have time to edit it. So it's kinda normal that it may have some bugs iwith 1.05 patch.

As to nostalgia, it never decreases untill you are in peace (I mean total peace - you are at war with nobody - what might be harder with 1.05 patch) and the mod (if I remember correctly) chcnged it that it is impossible to adopt the provinces immediately - you have to stay in peace for some time before so it actually isn't a bug but was made on purpouse.

It's easy to edit it. I already done...
Just edit the max amount of books you can get OR
change the price of it (I forget how but I can do it once.)

Nostalgia should drop once your nation is at peace, regardless of wether you saved and loaded the game or not. Make sure there is really *no* nation at war wth you. Nostalgia doesn't drop if you're at war, even if it's a war against a 1-province nation on the other wise of the map that has not caused a single casualty.

I included that mechanism so you have to stop all expansion once in a while. If you don't most of your provinces will suffer nostalgia and will declare independance if you fail to provide a successor to the crown.
However, as Elvain said, I didn't update GoG for KoH 1.05. So it may be possible that this problem was caused by the patch, but I don't think so.

Thank you gentlemen for explaining to me this whole situation with nostalgia.
Again my thanks go to Angryminer-Mephistopheles, I played your mode over 1.05 and actually it did work well just like it did work with 1.03, I tryied 1.03 cause I was hoping to get rid of that 'bug' which turned out to be a feature of the game.
I DO recommend to all who played vanila versions to try out this mod as in my opinion its
just as close as I think it should be to ideal balance in this wonderfull game which I believe is a classic example of how strategy games should be made.
I played strategy games for the past 15 years I guess and KOH is definitely at the top of my list together with Lords of the Realm II (I did play that one on LAN with my friend and it was a blast for the hardware of those days).
BTW I was wondering if developers could implement feature that was present in LoRII. Instead of taking 2 generals into a battle ( to increase your army size) it would prabably make sence and implement what was in LOTR II , which is just divide your zquad size in 2 (3,4, 5....) if army of your opponent is bigger then yours, that would work nicely around the fact that only finite number of ppl can be in each squad.

I should prabably explain what I wrote earlier about squad sizes .
Lets say I have 45 templars and opponent has 120 swordsmen, as long as highest NMBR of soldiers in 1 squad can only be 45 then player who has 120 soldiers will have 45, and I will have (45/120)X45=16.8 which rounds to 17.

I'm glad it's working for you. :)

Regarding the scaling of squads:
I think the number of little men walking around on screen should represent the actualy numbers as closely as possible. If the game tells you you have 40 swordsmen but actually only shows 10 then most users will rather consider that a bug than a feature.
If you explain it thoroughly to the user they will understand the concept, but especially in such complex games as KoH things should work by common sense (e.g. number of soldiers on screen = number of soldiers in squad) and should avoid any rules that need to be learned.
Ideally to play any game you should only require the knowledge you had when you bought the game, like swords hurt, and horsemen beat swordsmen, but pikes beat horsemen, etc. So I'm always sceptical about concepts such as LoR-type squad-scaling that have no real-world common-sense origin.

If you're concerned about game-performance, I'd rather try to do something with the scaling of detail of 3d-graphics elements based on the zoom-level.
