Has anyone else experienced periodic crashes in this game?
I love it too much, but if I play for over 1 hour I not too often crash.
Just now, I was playing as Bohemia (I love being surrounded by three big soon to be enemies :D). The Germans were the top, followed by Poland. Poland was my good ally, and Germany was Calm. Hungary, my other ally, fought and was doing good, then lost horribly against Poland. Denmark took out the Teutonic Order who had a large hit on German North. Germany had taken France and Italy, and England took the southern most part of France.
Okay!
I declared war on Germany. His allies, Denmark, England, Catisalla, and the Papacy all declared war on me. This was my intention! I sent three marshals (and one guarding home) to do battle. One went to Brandenburg and two to Germany. Poland stepped in, and it was similar to West vs East, considering the size of each nation. I took one region, then three full German Armies appear out of nowhere and start to attack my new captured town. I defended it, and they all started raiding. Then Denmark sent an army to me, I beat them back. Soon, Poland starting taking territory! It was so fun! I went back to Brandenburg to recruit some more men for the war effort, then the game crashed! :(.
Oh I wish I could have seen who would have won, West or East. I would have won in the end, this i know, but the Polish and Germans were the two largest, there war would have been entertaining.

No, for me KoH proved to be *very* stable. I don't think it ever crashed on me.
Such problems are sometimes caused by problematic drivers, e.g. soundcard, mainboard, etc., but they are very hard to track down. I'd rather suggest to enable the 15-minutes autosave feature.

Yeah, thats what I am doing now.
Though it couldn't be my computer, I don't overclock, and it is only a month or two old. The graphics card could handle it while it is in the box, and the motherboard shouldn't have any dust or structural damage...
But I just finished building a new computer, and put in a 7600 512 mb card, and a really nice Motherboard, so when I install KoH, it should run well :)

With the original game I haven't experienced ANY crashes (or at least none that I recall)
but that's not the case with the mods... Laudan's mod for example can be unplayable from time to time because once the game crashes, even if you load its sure it will crash again untill it reaches a moment when nommater of save/load it will crash
This is not always of course, but some 10% of the games lets say...
No Mod perfect.
Just like no Games perfect (if it is, then job as game tester/debugger or game patcher will be none)
And it is not his full-time job, only hobbies. So don't expect it to have no bugs in it.
(PS: If there is no bugs, there will ve no famine. LOL)

They aren't that frequent, only, maybe, 1 our of e very 20 plays. I use the first version (box version) of the game (I don't like how in the patch when a King Dies you lose all happy / sad)
So you used patch: 1.03? Or 1.02? That's why it crashes...
Patch are there to do something. Like Debug.
And no recent mod compatible with old version.

Okay, I updated to 1.05 (or was it 1.06? I'll have to check), and it crashed once :P. Thankfully, it was only a few minutes after I saved, but hasn't crashed yet.
I've been leading my German Empire well, just got out of one of the toughest war's I have ever been in.
Too tired to explain, but it was basically 3 of the strongest Factions (Genoa, England, and Arragon) all attacking and invading me. I had 3 marshals going mad trying to defend from Genoa's 3-4 armies in the south and England's 2-3 armies in the north.
Then to make things better, My enemy Poland decided to get Denmark to join them in an attack, which led that one marshal over there to lose both his feet in holding them back.
It was super fun :) So fun that I didn't realize it was 3 am and I had to go to work at 6 am. Well I am the top in everything (Most loved, and most hated with happiest provinces, best army with most money, most territory and number 1 faction).

My KOH crashes every time I do the following:
-Start a game, hit F11, play for a while, save and Exit, select another kingdom to play with, hit F11 ... instant crash to desktop.
I can restart KOH without a problem, but the same thing will happen every time.
the same happens to me too
So, the temp solution should be always to reset (quit and rerun) KoH after save and quit before trying a new game. Or do not use the clock at all!

What version are you using? It is vital to patch your games whether you like it or not. 1.05 barely ever crashes on me now.
I posted it just as a record that it happens also to me :) I don't really find it a problem for me and if it wasn't mentioned I wouldn't even post it
because and it might be because of imperfect installation on my laptop, because I can't find my cd.

For the record, I'm playing with the Gamesgate version on Windows XP and have yet to have a single CTD with this game...seems 100% stable on my system. I've been pulling four and five hour "near all night" sessions, too. :-)

I also had a few crashes ( very rare and spontanious ) but only when I had an 'over-modded' game. When I`ve reinstalled KoH and played the game without mods I didn`t experience any crashes.

ok you seem to be really frustrated with this error, so I have a few questions for you:
1. Is your copy of KoH original or a pirated one( if it`s pirated shame on you), because pirated games might contains viruses/worms.
2.What OS are you running??(win, linux...??)
3.What is your sys configuration, maybe you don`t have strong enough hardware.
4.Did you install the latest patch, maybe that could help.

Even if I knew the answer to your problem, I would not help you as long as you use this kind of demanding help.

microsoft visual C++ runtime libaryerror!Try installing the C++ runtime components. If it doesn't work, it won't harm you either. It helped me out once.
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/259403 and you'll have to click "Download the VC6RedistSetup_enu.exe package now" there.
P.S.: You could've created a seperate thread in Technical Support. Also, don't spam throughout the forum with messages for help, it does not help you and clutters the board. Of course you are annoyed, but patience is a (very great) virtue.

i have the right stuff ok now i tried unstalling nd got an error and know it wont take the disk i just need the error gone and i did the C++ thing but not the patch cuz it can not thind the file but thanks
