Greetings

Your beers are served!

This round on the house!

EDIT- If we should start another story here, do you think that maybe it should have it's own thread for the story segments and then comments made here!

NikeBG
6 Jun 2007, 17:02
A new story?! I don't think we'll find enough bards willing to right now...

And thanks for the beer! Hey, where's my beer?! It's gone! Somebody must have drank it! Drunkards!
Frujin, could you also add the  smiley? ;)

Dobber
6 Jun 2007, 17:06
Hey, where's my beer?!

You have to watch Hawk Knight very close!

And as for a second story, you were the first to mention that possibility!

NikeBG
6 Jun 2007, 17:58
Hmm, Hawk, mate, care to "buy" me a beer?

Dobber, our current story already is the second one. The first one is the unfinished "Love & Schemes", which made Elvain start using his current nick... ;) Do you remember it - there were so many bards, who aren't with us now, like Henrik, Sir Turylon, Haegemon, Heretic and others... Cheers in their virtual memory!

Another MacGruders......:p

Kuno
6 Jun 2007, 19:40
A beer please!

Well I guess a new story could be a good idea. I guess the old one went already so far that it is hard for new Bards to jump in.

I once had in mind that we could start a story by first creating 2-3 imaginary kingdoms (or even some kingdoms from KoH) and then everyone could take up a position he liked like king, spy, marshall... but I never had time to really work out a concept and I think as well that it would need probably some more bards than the remaining ones...

Mephistopheles
6 Jun 2007, 20:37
@Kuno: I like the idea, but it'd definitely need more than 6 or better 9 bards to go well. However the story would nicely allow new bards to enter the story, so even if we start with fewer bards than desireable we could propably recruit enough later on.
@Story: Generally I'd like to finish the old story before starting something different. We have put so much effort into the old one that it'd be sad to see it end so closely before being finished.

Oh, and, that beer there *points at a fresh pint behind the bar* is mine, yes? *grabs before anyone can answer*
We need a  smiley! Quick! I'm thirsty!

Kuno
6 Jun 2007, 20:58
Yes, of course we should finish the old one first, but I rather thought we afterwards better start a completely new one than just giving the old a new storyline like "Oh, a letter from China has arrived, we're needed there!"

Btw, that's my beer you greedy old devil (;)) . *tries to grab the beer back from Mephisto*

I'm reaing "Faust" for my final exams at the moment, jut came to your quote couple of minutes ago...:D

A nice cold drink would be nice. The journey from the old tavern to here was a long one. ;)

Xuca
6 Jun 2007, 21:31
Well, I am all for a new story. I'm not writing in the present one because, well, I lost track of it and it has become too hard for me to participate in (large battles and stuff is where my creativity dies).

Doux
6 Jun 2007, 21:39
A tavern to relax. Good idea, o lord!

Love & Schemes(which I have read none of, sorry :o ), was not a Tavern Story was it? Didn't the Tavern come along after that.

Love & Schemes was back in the Royal Inn days, I believe, wasn't it?

skycycle
7 Jun 2007, 05:53
get me a bloody mary, would you :))))

Dobber

Greetings Richard, How about a cold beer for something cold to drink?

Welcome, skycycle! Your Bloody Mary is served!

Oh, I'm not sure, it was so loooooooooong ago! But perhaps it was indeed when the SF forums were only KoH ones...
Damm, that reminded me that I should make a back-up of Love & Scheme too!

Btw, thanks to the admins for the ! Kamenitza for everybody, especially the one, who has brought it, on my account!

Edit: Btw, could somebody indeed explain me the current strategic situation in our story? I know only that I'm fighting somewhere near Angry, who came down with his cavalry and pushed the Romeans back. But, as someone else had written, are we fighting also with the Arabs or they haven't arrived? I feel a bit inspired right now, but don't know what to write, as I lost track of events...

Kuno
7 Jun 2007, 13:04
As far as I know we fight against a allied army of Romans AND Arabs, at least this is the way I understood it. But I read somewhere as well that the Arabs aren't here yet...

Mephistopheles
7 Jun 2007, 15:24
The paragraph about the arabs is a bit confusing. I'll sum up everything before that:
When the battle was well organized last time it was me fighting to the east of adrianople (I was the westmost leader) facing south, Traveller east of me, then Kuno and Dobber in a rearward position and in the far east Hawk Knight and Richard's troops fighting a contingent of arab mounted troops. Richard died, but his and Hawk Knight's troops prevailed and saved that section of the battle.
During that Dobber decided to split his troops. He sent some to me, some to Traveller I think and remained with only few. Kuno's troops were by then engaged somewhere along Traveller's section.
After having dealt with the far east section Hawk Knight sent some reinforcements to me and then launched an attack on the main battle-section of Traveller, Kuno and me from the east (so the town Adrianople to the west, Traveller, Kuno, and me in one line facing south, with the romans opposing us and being attacked by Hawk Knight from the east, basically flanked). When the reinforcements Dobber and Hawk Knight gave to me finally arrived I immediately threw them into the battle (that was that last charge I wrote about).
Hawk Knight then added that he commanded some rather myterious troops in the south to attack the romans from the rear and in one sentence he said that there were other arab troops having some business with boarding or unboarding ships somewhere (adrianople is not at the coast, so I don't know what that means).
But generally all roman and arab troops are now engaged in the battle, aswell as all our troops are. Right now our troops have the upper hand and we're eroding the romans. In my last post I jumped to a bit of text that was written the day after the battle, so at least I survived it and I said we managed to drive the romans away.

About the text above: When I write 'roman' troops I always mean 'roman and arab' troops since they are allied and mostly act together.
I hope that helps. :go:

[Edit] I wonder wether I should copy this to the old thread. Or do we continue here?

NikeBG
7 Jun 2007, 16:42
Thanks for the great explanation, Angry... uhm, Mephisto...
And perhaps it would be indeed best to try and finish the story there!

So, what do we need to finish the story now? We (you)'re all writing just about the development of the battle, who will put the final end to it? And one more thing - shall we then march to Constantinople (and if yes - what will we do there - negotiate having the upper hand, assault it or something else?) or having suffered too much casualties we'd call it a "draw" (or "pyrrhic victory") and end like that?

Mephistopheles
7 Jun 2007, 16:55
My personal roadmap:
- Every bard who wishes to do so should write down any battle experience he wants to express. Hack'n Slay.
- Since the roman troops are being eroded everyone else can also start writing about meeting in sections where the battle has already died. This should be the next step forward in time.
- We should sum up our campaign and the battle. We were almost defeated and most of our troops lie slain on the field. What shall we do with such a decimated force?
- We should decide what to do with what we conquered and what territory to claim from the romans.
- Declare our campaign successful, decide what to do with our spoils and call it quits.

That's my personal plot. Feel free to spoil my plans any time. :)

I would like to have a Smirnoff Ice, if you got any. Does this Tavern has the same paying-principle as the Tavern at the Inn? Tell-to-pay?

I see you are already on the move for yet another story. And I got one thing to tell you; Count me in! :D

Oh, and hi yall! Greetings to all the 'regulars' and let us get our backs into it and make this forum as great as the Sunflower one is. :go:

Good old mephisto, The Lord of hatred.
I guess he's just Goethe's Faust's lover ;)

Mephistopheles
8 Jun 2007, 23:53
Yes, the quote from my signature is the same as the one I used on the Sunflowers boards from Goethe's Faust. It's where the devil, a.k.a. Mephistopheles introduces himself to the main character, Faust. I just looked up a translation by George Madison Priest of the scene: Faust: What is your name?
Mephistopheles: The question seems but cheap
From one who for the Word has such contempt,
Who from all outward show is quite exempt
And only into beings would delve deep.
Faust: The being of such gentlemen as you, indeed,
In general, from your titles one can read.
It shows itself but all too plainly when men dub
You Liar or Destroyer or Beelzebub.
Well now, who are you then?
Mephistopheles: Part of that Power which would
The Evil ever do, and ever does the Good.
Faust: A riddle! Say what it implies!
Mephistopheles: I am the Spirit that denies!
And rightly too; for all that doth begin
Should rightly to destruction run;
'Twere better then that nothing were begun.
Thus everything that you call Sin,
Destruction - in a word, as Evil represent-
That is my own, real element. The bold part is the one in my signature. I kind of affiliate myself with that quote. :)

I don't use the nickname Angryminer since years actually. The sunflowers-account is really just a relic of old times.

Hhmmmm! The first two recorded posts in the compilation thread "The story thread", are by the knightly sword!

Apparently your cowslinging came afterward, I couldn't find it before that in the thread!

Navatar
9 Jun 2007, 22:34
TKS was the "inventor" and FrankishKnight was the "starter"

So if TKS isn't the rightfull "owner" then neither are you FrankishHero, because your not FrankishKnight :p

Haha, just pulling your leg.

In any case, isn't the story owned, by law, by Sunflowers?

FrankishHero
9 Jun 2007, 23:06
As read in the story, I am the son of FrankishKnight. I can therefor claim copyright posthumously through heritage.

Dobber
10 Jun 2007, 02:53
The first posts of the story were from the knightly sword, not FrankishKnight!

FrankishHero
10 Jun 2007, 03:39
Maybe now would be a good idea to tell you of my other alias...?

Dobber
10 Jun 2007, 06:55
Yeah right, now you are going to tell us you are tks! You cannot sell that!

FrankishHero
10 Jun 2007, 15:02

Hawk Knight

true a blind man can type better then tks :) but frankish your not tks so :p

Navatar
12 Jun 2007, 21:29
Yeah, if FH really is/was TKS then that would have caused some conflicts at specific times. Like at msn-conversations and similar things. :p

NikeBG

Yeah, if FH really is/was TKS then that would have caused some conflicts at specific times. Like at msn-conversations and similar things. :p

Absolutely! Although you can indeed "meet" me in a mutli-chat in MSN with two accounts (work account - Windows Messenger, personal account - Windows Live), so it wouldn't be impossible for Frankish either... ;)

NikeBG
16 Jun 2007, 14:43
I've already got a beer here, but I wouldn't mind something to eat. Eric (or is Dobber the bar's host now?), what's your specialty? :)

Dobber
17 Jun 2007, 00:51
Beer here for all, compliments of Xuca!

Nike, we have some cold roast beef and a bit of cheese. Other than that all we have are the bar nuts and chips! We are just getting opened after all. Other faree will come later. Just let it be known what type fare you desire and we will see about getting it in the cupboard!

NikeBG
17 Jun 2007, 14:12
Nuts? I love nuts, thanks! :D
Btw, you don't have to call me NikeBG, you know - Nike or even Niki would be enough (or Traveller, if you prefer :P).

Dobber
17 Jun 2007, 17:21
Nike is good, much quicker to type! :)

Navatar
18 Jun 2007, 01:17
Hey Nike, stop eating all the nuts! Leave some to us!

Oh, and I would like to have that roast beef, please, even though it's cold. I'm hungry like a newly born three headed python! Bring out a Smirnoff Ice also, if you may ;)

(and yes, three headed pythons are very hungry indeed)

Dobber
18 Jun 2007, 05:44
Here is a plate of beef, and a chunk of bread, eat, eat, there is plenty! If we run out we will just go kill another of the King's cows!

And here is your drink, be sure not to drink on an empty stomach, we cannot have you sick!

FrankishHero
19 Jun 2007, 01:17

Hawk Knight

NikeBG
20 Jun 2007, 12:43
Hey, fish is good for... uhm, I don't remember what it was good for, but I remember that it was good for something. Memory, I think... Yeah, it should be memory, so tell us where you've found that fish and let's cook some! :)

Hawk Knight
20 Jun 2007, 23:20
Got the fish from the local market. Bouncer where where  Who ever the bouncer is i just throw a fish at him or a giant cow. Which came out of Navatar Boots :D.

With the cow we got something new to eat. So bartender get the ale and get a fire going up to get uss all some food :D and you must eat some too he. ;)

Dobber
20 Jun 2007, 23:59
Hey, I'm just the bartender, I ain't the cook! I just serve what is made available. Maybe someone wants to be the cook?

Navatar
21 Jun 2007, 00:53
I would have voluenterd if it wasn't for my bad cooking.

I'm feeling thirsty and it's getting late. What does the bartender recommend as a night-drink?

FrankishHero

Because C is pretty long to write
And Delphi is very expensive.
Maybe Phyton but I don't know wether the 2003-2004 version as good as now.
SO maybe it's right the C++

My son wound up with that on his PC, and it totally took over! It is worse than the spyware it proclaims to find on your PC. It hijacked his browser and everytime you clicked on the internet it brought up Virus Protect Pro website and the warning to clean the spyware(but with buying the program to do so). When I tried to go to Spybot S & D site it blocked me. I had to go to downloads.com and download both Spybot Search & Destroy(free version) and Adaware 2007(free version) to completely remove it from his computer.

Only a slight bit, Mircoslavux.. Hungarian is compleatly different from the Indo-European languages I know (the former being a Finno-Ugric language [controversial now, see wiki]), thus harder to learn. There are very few words which resemble the words I know and prepositions are actually suffixes.

G'day folks! It has been a while since our beloved Sunflowers closed down.

What have you been up to then?

Oh, and bartender! Make me a drink please.
What kind you ask? Why, surprise me! ;)

Okay, you're a "Bloody Mary!" You look awful I might say, all bloody!

Seriously, here is a Gin & Tonic, enjoy!

Thank you Dobber!

Love, air and dust, you say, Angr...*cough* Mephistopheles.
That reminds me of our beloved (not yet finished) tale! Anyone remember how many pages it was? 100-200?

All those creativity coconuts, smashing on our heads. I almost miss those times! :D

So, Dobber. I see you have returned to the classroom, no? What are you studying?
(pardon if there is a thread/post/hint already telling us that, but you know me. The lazy swede)

The degree I am seeking is Early Childhood Education. I was planning to teach 1st or 2nd grade. But I may switch to a Biology Major and teach high school Biology.

I wish you fortune then! It's well known that being a teacher isn't the most....appreciated job out there, even though it's one of the most valuable! ;)

1st and 2nd grade isn't too bad. But I don't think high-school teacher is a good occupation unless you are capable of building a very strong defense between what you experience at school and your personality.
Even as a pupil I felt sorry for the teachers. They start their job with so much enthusiasm and retire as a broken person.

Yes, I agree, it is not the most appreciated(and also is not a well paying) job. But it is what I feel I will get the most satisfaction from. I want to make a difference in kids lives. Maybe I need to stick with the Early Childhood, I probably could make the most difference there. Although the thought of the challenge the other would present is intriguing as well. I actually have thought about being that strange teacher that does all the crazy unusual and unexpected things.

Not good. In about ten minutes I coudn't make this thing speak of anything theologically relevant. And I was trying, too. Kind of a downer. Maybe it rather speaks of my English, though.
