Hi all,
My spy, a wonderful 4 star master, just got caught. He successfully turned every Genoean army into rebels, making me bring them from 5 castles to 1 in a few swift moves. However, he was captured in the process. If I destroy this final castle and remove Genoa from the world, would he return home to my Court, or would he die in the flames that will soon engulf the city?
I really don't want to pay 40,000 Gold to rescue him; I don't even have 40,000 gold. But I certainly don't want to lose this hard earned spy.
Sincerely,
Frankoman
Wow, you just came in a situation so rare...
I guess it's the 1st...
But ask Frujin and corp. or ask Gametester/debugger...
The one time I encountered that situation I think I lost my spy. I guess the enemy kills all prisoners just before surrendering.

I wasn't sure myself...i think i did that once but lately i've never conquered the last province of a country who has one of my knights.
I'm almost certain your spy will die if you finish Genoa off. It's like if you've got an enemy prisoner, and that enemy kingdom the prisoner is from is destroyed, it comes up with the message saying that the prisoner could not survive a life of confinement.

Thankyou for the quick responses!
I am really biting my nails as to whether I should leave him or try my hardest to get that much money. I have 3 marshals, all with loot level 3 (2000 gold per village sacking), but I don't have too many enemies remaining! Also I could pump war tax considering I have very happy people. Oh, what a perplexing situation!

Yeah, usually my guys come home after starting mass rebellions :P. What is the bug, though? The fact that a 4 star spy costs 40,000 gold? I have seen that before, but it was at a time when I had about 70,000 gold and about 120 territories :P. Currently, in this game, I only have about 45 or so.
I guess I will just make a new spy, and try to make more books, ah well.
Well, you never know. You could make peace with Genoa and hope they release your prisoner...
Although I actually don't see that happening... :bash:
Save the game, which I assume you have, try it by finishing them off and see if he is released. If he dies, restart the save game and go the other route. No hard decision there.
I have had both scenarios happen. I think it depends on several variables, one being how long he sits in prison before you defeat your enemies last city.

Another perplexing situation.
My level 5 spy got captured by the French, costing 35000 to get freed, me only have around 15.
Then, my king, who had 2 sons at YOUNG AGE STILL didn't grow up, and king died at Vernible of age. The sons didn't go anywhere, I had mass rebellion on my hands, and a lot of invading armies.
Oh, but let me tell you who became my King. My level 5 spy who was captured...
So now I either pay an increasing 35000 gold (Which I don't have) or I kill my king, causing even more problems..
I mean, a captured King can't have kids, no?
However bizarre it may be, I think he actually can have kids if he can marry. But I don't know, really. It's pretty rare situation, you got into. The problem is, he'll probably die in prison before, erm, making a baby.

Yeah I have gotten into a lot of rare situations... Which is why I like to be a Beta Tester (which (I've been for many games). It's always fun considering my luck :D
I have a save right before he dies. I've been dying over what to do. If I kill him I have to train a spy all over again, but if I leave him he'd probably die in prison... Woe is me!
