After running the game, entering my gamespy user name and PW I'm informed that there is a patch available and I have to download. I confirm the download and the patching progress sticks at 0%. I have no network activity when attempting to download the patch. Is there an alternate place to get the patch or will this issue be resolved shortly?

I have to report the same problem like HappyNinja. I´ve just downloaded the beta and created a new user account. Now the game tells me that an update is available. But if i try to download it, nothing happens :(

In my case it helped to start the game "as administrator". I suggest this is a Windows Vista only Problem!?
HappyNinja: Do you use Vista too? Can you confirm that my "solution" fixes the problem?
EDIT: I use Vista 32 Bit Home Premium

I do run Vista 64. I'll try that and get back.
Edit: Yep. That fixed it. Apparently Vista users have to run Worldshift as Administrator to download the patch.

Thanks guys, this helped me too :)
Okay, just to mark this as "noted" .. thanks guys .. !
Sorry for coming off as noobish, but how do I run the game in Administrator mode? I too am running Vista32 and experiencing the same problem with the Patch Downloading not moving from the 0% mark
Right click the game icon and click run as administrator.
(I haven't use Vista home, but im guessing it's the same as business)

Vista's the same all around it is the one thing that drives me nuts about Vista. But the Right click run as Admnistrator works with all Vista Versions for the Patch.
Oh yeah Had to run it as Admin. thanks guys saved me a problem before i had one!

microsoft should add and option in properties to tick "run as admin..." to save us right clicking icons all the time when wanting to play a game

lol there is an option in the properties to run in admin mode
I was having the same problem and running it as admin seemed to fix it.
Until the patcher minimized the game and started the patching process.
I got an error saying unable to run worldshift.exe abort/ignore/retry.
Only clicking ignore had any effect, but now the patcher seems stuck in place...it hasn't moved in quite a while now.
I am worried about just killing it with task manager, but I guess a reinstall might be in order.
EDIT: I was able to kill it with TM and then launch the game...

This has been stated millions of times. Its not a possible work around, its is the workaround. Although I heard you no longer have to do that after the latest patch. I wouldn't know though, I would never use Vista :bash:
