after I've red it all I think it really is interesting (though sci-fi really is NOT my cup of tea!)

Can I understand it that BSS really worked on strategic multiplayer (the most demanded thing on KoH)?
Also can I understand the screenshots as battle screenshots and there will be also another part of game like in KoH or sometingcompletely diferent?

Just saw it...well congratulation guys, looks like WorldShift(can we call it WS from now on?) is starting to gain popularity(not so suprising after KoH if you ask me ;) ) ...Unfortunatley i didn't see any new info that has not been published on the site yet.

Yes it's rather a text about the information avaliable on the hompage...;)

I think it could be interesting aventhoug I'm not attracted to science-fiction at all, but I can't really imagine how to play this game yet...

Just by this quick look I'm seeing the resemblance to Warhammer 40000: Dawn of War (and perhaps a little Ground Control) and I imagine the gameplay is similar as it's in the genre "Real time strategy". Also, i'm intrigued about this "Cooperative RTS". Seems like a superb idea.

Looks nice. Interresting how it will develop.

that's tru... but I'm still wondering what the "?'s" are in the text ;)...
coz those sentences don't seem to make any sense ^^

Sounds interesting, the coperative gameplay and no techs to research makes it seem like games will last a bit longer and force players to develop strategies to gain items and relics instead of the usual RTS where all you do is research some techs make a big army and rush the enemy.
I do hope that Bss implements a nice diplomatic system, that would certainly attract me to this game. Virtually all Rts games right now lack even a simple form of diplomacy preventing the player from interacting with the ai in anyway other than in the battlefield.

Frujin, will there be a campaign(Pretty long I hope)? Some sort of story to fallow? That's the only thing that usually attracts me to RTS games fallowed by multyplayer. From what I have seen so far a nice little story would be somethng like a general from one of "mega cities" tries to unite all of them in order to fight the hive(I asume they are like the bad guys) which wants to destroy all humans, and between this two there are the tribes which can ally with either side. That way you can make 3 different campaigns and let the player play with each race through their ordeal trying to survive and reach their goals and have a story from which to create a sequal ;).

Hi all, new user here!

I've really liked what I've seen so far!
Just please, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make it have a really GOOD story, and NOT one so generic as the one Richard just described :p

You know, there are 3 things that get people's attention:
1 - graphics
2 - multiplayer
3 - good story and ambientation (atmosphere, sound & music, voice acting, charismatic characters) -- Blizzard's games, SC and Diablo I, are good examples of this.

Most people care a lot about 1 and 2, and those you seem to have well covered. But lots of people care most for number 3, myself included there. You have a very good point of exploration with the cooperative thing. Maybe the story could unfold differently if you played it with your friends? A "multi" single-player campaign? There's a game in development with that idea(can't recall the name) and I find it really something. Let's say you play as humans, and a friend is playing as the tribes. At some point in the story the Hive may try to eliminate the humes and, as they can't, they try to ally the tribes. The tribes player can then choose to ally or fight his hume friend. That's really just an obvious idea improving on what Richard started, I think you could make a lot of better ones.

Another thing that I think is awesome is when units move in a realistic way, like in Total Annihilation or Supreme Commander. Supreme could have been awesome if it just hadn't such a lame story(does it really have one?), charisma-lacking characters and bad voice acting. It would have been better if they just released a multiplayer-only game. I think this is really less important than what I mentioned before, though.

Anyway, if you could cover the third point, and maybe the movement thing, you could really blast out starcraft 2. I may be speaking a blasphemy to many, but SC2 seems like just a new cover for the old thing. The new units are almost the same, the graphics are nowhere near yours and those physics are just really lame. Don't you see an opportunity here to create the new marvel of the genre? You're half the way onto it already, go for it! :go:

Dude I cant agree with the graphics thing. Gameplay rules all (and story too). That is why Starcraft is still king of RTSs.
Another thing - I really like the cooperative RTS you are talking about. I hope you make it fantastic( MMORTS OMG my dream has come true :D )

Personally I could care less about the multi-player aspect. Completely leave it out, it wont hurt my feelings none... I play games to get away from other people...

The graphics have gotta be good, but most important is an immersive story as well as open endedness... I like making my own decisions instead of having decisions thrust upon me. I hope the game play allows me to build up my base and forces as I see fit, as opposed to memorizing some cookie cutter build order as is seen in every other RTS available, and them pumping out an army as fast as possible...

lol

This is strange, I like to play games where I play with people not AI.

You an anti-social kind of person?

If I wanted to play with other people, I'd play an MMO or go outside and toss a football around. In an RTS, I strongly dislike playing against other people, because all RTS onlines games are about rushing, and winning the game within moments. Where "clicks per second" determines the winner... I have enough "social" activities in my life, and as I said, my gaming time is when I can be left alone, and not be bothered with other people. To each their own...

Not for the same reasons, but I don't care much for multiplayer too. What I really like in any game is the story. When it feels like you're "playing" a good book, with twists and table turns and you really can't tell what's going to happen next, it's great! It's really sad that you actually CAN tell everything that'll happen in most game stories just by looking at the site or reading a preview.

Hmm well I think you guys should play Gothic 1 and 2! :D Check my signature! :D

I agree with you guys that we need a good story for the game, but IMO the multiplay is what makes a game last, just look at StarCraft. So multiplay is as important as singleplay.

And we all know that if you search for some real combat and challenge you need to have a human enemy not AI.

IMO no multiplay=low chance for a game to last and be known. Check out Defcon which is an Indi game and is only multiplay and its a huge succes.

Tried Gothic 3 and Oblivion, didn't much care for them... Unfortunately, I love RTS games, I just hate other RTS gamers... heh heh heh Ok, hate is too strong a word, I just like doing my own thing... Yeah, the computer AI eventually gets to be an easy win, but I still have fun doing what I do... Again, it's not about my stats or my standing or having to win at all costs, it's about having fun. And how I define fun may or maynot coincide with how others define fun.

BTW, I'm not at all saying that this multiplayer should be left out... Just that for me, it means absolutely nothing. I only posted in the thread because others were saying what they thought had to be in the game, and I was merely offering a different perspective.

Another BTW, I still play Age of Mythology all the time, and have been for years and have never ever played an online match or game. I also play Kohan II, Stronghold 2 and Stronghold Legends all the time as well. So I can play a non-online RTS for quite some time, especially if it comes with a good scenario and map editor.

Speaking of which, any word on modding tools, map editors, or scenario editors?

I don't care about either multiplayer or graphics, but most people will...
I just hope WorldShift doesn't become just a cult favourite, but a big hit worldwide.

wow the graphics are really amazing and it is that which lead me to this forum. i guess it is the graphics that initially catches a persons attention but for the game to grow and become a classic it will need excellent game play as well.

does anyone have links for game play videos? thanks in advance.

Graphics is good, but to me its all about the gameplay.

Ive played Ultima Online for about 6-7 or so years and for those who know the game, it aint exactly what you call great graphics. But its gameplay is NOTHING like ive ever played before, by far the best game I have ever played back in the days.. unfortunately these days its a pos.

Worldshift definitely sounds to have potential and cant wait to try it out in the future!
