View Full Version : Basic Minumum Requirements?

Apollo

I know the game has not been out for a while, but is the a basis for the minimum requirements of the game?

My computer right now is:
1.7 ghz
1 gig ram
integrated graphics card

I would definitely want to know if atleast this would run the game.

thanks,
apollo

Somebody from BSS posted somewhere in the past few days that it is to early to discuss minimum requirements!

I can already tell you that an integrated graphics card won't do the trick, looking at the screenshots. 1.7 GHz could be enough (though large amounts of units will require maybe even 3 GHz), 1 GB DDR-RAM is pretty safe. But the graphics might need a >=64MB ram DirectX9 card - probably higher.

Although it's still all too early to discuss the requirements I would say that, after looking at the screenshots, your computer won't "cut it". You will surely be able to play it but with excessive lag. What Doux said sounds close to the truth. Perhaps the bar is a little higher.

But then again, it's still very early for the details.

Anything that requires pixel shader 2.0 won't run on my pc. And most new games do require it.

Surely the developers don't want to share minimum requirements before having optimized the code for performance. But how about telling us what the least powerful computer is that you managed to test this early version of WorldShift on?

It won't be representative for the final minimal specifications at all.

I know. But I'm not asking for representative specifications. I'm asking for the specifications of the smallest testing-configuration you currently use that can still run the game.

... Back in the SF-KoH board the trick worked better... ;)

You system can maybe run it you 1.7 ghz might run it with some lagg but your might not beable to try it with your intergrated graphic card .
And what doux said about the intergrated graphic card Is true as the card wont do the trick to run WS good So it might be a good thing to look for something new ;) .

if WS isn't a reason for buying a new computer.. which game is it?...:)
here's your chance ^^

i agree with most of the stuff stated above.
if you take a closer look to the screens you'll notice that there's no way around a new pc for you. even 1.7ghz are going to be hell for you...
my assumptions are like this:

minimum reqs:

1 GB free hdd
128mb direct X supporting 3d card
1 GB ram
3 ghz cpu

Xuca

1 GB free hdd
Heh, I doubt it'll be under 4 GB.

Arjuna
12 Jun 2007, 17:27
hm well I said minimum reqs ;) maybe there's a selection between full content and minimum content ;)
but yeah.. you could be right...

btw. @Frujin: when can expect a gameplay trailer or other ingame "moving" material? :)
and please don't say "soon" :). rly anxious to watch some good stuff!:D

Btw, another question: What OS will it support? I hope it won't be a "Windows Vista" only... ;)

I hope it won't be a "Windows Vista" only... ;)

Then I will personally travel to BSS headquarters and ring their doorbell and run away. For fifteen houndred years, every day.

And maybe leave pieces of candy-paper on their stairs some days so they have to pick it up and stuff.

I think it's not fair to judge it this way.
1 Vista (wether you like it or not) is the OS for the not so distant future (though i agree it's bugged)
2 it all depends on the date of release: if it's in a year from now (just naming a date) there is a big chance that most of vista's problems are solved.
3 About the processor requirement: just look at current days pc that are out there it's foolish not to make a game that supports and even promotes dual core PC's, I wouldn't be surprised if the max system requirements would be a dual core, it's even reasonable if you look at what an rts demands nowadays from the computer in terms of speed and all....

PS: though i think Vista would be it's main focus i don't think it's the only focus meaning a directx 10 patch rather then standard ingame directx 10 (depands on release date ofcourse).

Frujin

The game will support DX9

The game will support DX9

But will there ever be directx 10 support???

Let's face it, it's a next gen RTS, power battles, nice (NICE) graphs, huge scenarios, overwhelming PC usage with the infinte relic-thing options...it'll be a pain in the RAM :D

after WS is released I'd rly like to have a look on the numbers of alienwares sales department ;)

I really hope it has none...
Not because I think WS is easy on the system req, but rather cuz alienware is nothing but an expensive shop owned by ddddel:sad:. So I'm just hoping people make their decision based on their wallets instead of just a name;).

I'll upgrade my pc until i can play WS with my eyes ahah :D, so alienware go home (of course, they are awesome pcs)

I hope i does not require dual core to play it on max details because I can change only my video and get more ram. It will be very expensive for me to change motherboard and shit only for a dual core.
I can change my 3Ghz with a 3.6 though...

i agree with arjuna but keep in mind that usally it takes a game from its announcement about 1.5-2 years to be published so by then the question if my correnct cpu will run the game or not is really unknown and besides until then there so much can happened that there is a chance you will have a new cpu until then.
have a pleasent day ;)

Really depends on the release date, but suppose for optimal gameplay experience you'd need a rig like 3ghz dual core processor, 256mb ram dx10 compatible video controller and at least 2gb ram. As for the hdd, who knows, might be 4gb or even more, but that shouldn't be a problem these days.

My laptop has...

1.6 GHz Core Duo
2 GB Ram
Intel 945GM Express graphics with 224 MB shared memory

I don't have an invite to the beta, just trying to find out if my computer can run it on lower settings.

My 3ghz Celeron D can't handle it and it runs with 10-20 fps and 2-5 in battles. VGA is 8600 gt and 2 gigs of ram. Those are fine with the game.

My PC Specs:
---------------
Windows Vista Ultimate x64
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 (No OC)
EVGA LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 680i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard
2x=EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640MB 320-bit GDDR3 in SLI configuration (No OC)
4GB CORSAIR XMS2 DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel (No OC)
Creative 7.1 Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional Series
Thermaltake W0106RU 700W Power Supply
Swiftech H20-120 PREMIUM CPU Liquid Cooling Kit

On max settings with a 1900x1600 resolution, in a 2v2 practice game, the FPS at nearly all times during the game are about 45-60 FPS. With several battles happening on screen, the performance was always very smooth, rotating the camera, zooming in and issuing commands. This was while running Nod32 Anti-Virus and Fraps in the background.

How surprising.
Not like you'd be using a dated system, or something. *sarcastic grin*
