K so I fixed the vista 64bit problem by running vcredist_x86.exe
Now when the game starts, the box with worldshift on it apears and stays on screen for approximately 2 min. The task manager is showing the game as being active and using 150,000kish of memory which is to me normal for a video game. After a long 2 min, the screens flickers black and the game shuts down without any errors of any kind.
