Xuca

Now, these are nice, but make me wonder about one thing. :) All the screens are from a jungle or from some barren volcanic land. I'm interested in what enviorements do we get to fight in and if there's going to be urban combat in one of the megacities.

damn! those screens look very nice!
hope to see some more in the next few days!

and in addition to xuca: which environments can we expect in WS? icy worlds? vast plains? large deserts? remains of the old cities before the shard hit the earth?...
would be really nice to know! if there are such areas in WS... i think this will be the most diverse environment design in a rts ever made! annnnnnnnd i'd rly appreciate that... this would generate an incomparable gameplay experience!!

sooooo frujin feed us with info!!!

cheers,

arjuna

WOOOOOW! This tree buildings really amazed me!And the explosions...really guys in visual point of view the game looks amazing.
One more thing...I think this was asked before, but is enivoriment going to play a direct role on gameplay...i certainly think it wont be static but how exatly it's going to affect the gameplay(static bonuses, real use of terain like hiding for instance)...I personally would really like to be able to get my troops on those tree buildings and order them to barrage the enemy from above!

I hope, you will be working on KoH2 the next 2-3 years :)

Hm, while we're on the topic of release-estimations... Who is Worldshift's publisher?

[Edit] I was just going to make an "educated estimation". Well, perhaps I'll post it later. ;)

We've been working on WorldShift for more than 2 years so far.

2 years, wow, that is a lot of time! I bet the game is in an advanced stage right now.

But what do you do exactly?

BTW it is very nice to have you here answering our questions directly, it is very important for developers to talk to their community! Keep this up and I can guarantee you that you'll have a great supportive community soon! :go:

Soon? They already have from before KoH was released! ;)

Soon? They already have from before KoH was released! ;)

I understand your point of view, but this is a different game and not all KoH will move here. They are a good bonus for this forum and community, but they are not the core of players needed. So, spread the word! :D

NikeBG
5 Jul 2007, 19:27
Sorry, I thought you meant "BSS-supporting community", not "Worldshift-supporting community". Although, as I've seen in a few cases already, some KoH-fans are ready to support WS even if only it might give a better chance for a KoH2. ;)

And what happened with the updates? I hope you work hard on the game because there is no other excuse :D ;)

I hope the game wont stay in the shadows because of bad publisher.
Anyway I was thinking the game will require very strong video card for it to run on max details. Just look at the screens...

Pericle
15 Aug 2007, 17:48
^^ Here is a secret: If we build a great supportive community around this game, there will be no need for huge marketing and such.

A bad publisher can't and never will kill a game that is great. The game will stand on its own two legs. But this does not mean you don't need a publisher.

It all depends on the game really.

I'll try to sum up some things:
1. The human race doesn't work together as a whole. Each of the cities try to work against each other. They try to overcome each other in the fight over a (not further explained) resource called Xenolite.
2. Humans are the technological race of WS. Cool battle suits, lasers, large warmachines.
The Tribes are rather on the mystical side of thing. Magic attacks and the most efficient healers.
The Hive, called "the aliens" in the article, aren't explained further.
3. There are up to 6 players on a map.
4. There aren't more than 50 units on each map and the gameplay is very tactical. It's about using the right special abilities at the right time.
5. Very big units can frighten less powerful units. That's a situation where Officers come into play.
6. Relics can be found when very difficult missions are completed. They can only be put to effect between battles. You can't change relics during a fight.
7. The game will be presented at the GamesConvention.

That should be most of it.

I have been wondering, will worldshift be supported by directx 10 cards only, Or is bss making the game in the old directx 9?
If it is 10, then worldshift would benefit from all the new tech, but I'm sure that most of the people here like me will need to upgrade.

jediguardian

It will be DX9
