Goodaye,

I've recently bought the game and love it. There are a few things I can't figure out and - as far as I can see - aren't in the manual. Any help would be appreciated.

1.On the main map screen above your town is a row of people that gradually fills up. What causes the extra people to fill up? Eg. is there any relationship between your food supply and your population?

2.When the row of people has filled up entirely does that mean you have maxed out your population growth for that town?

3.What is the relationship between the number of people in your town (eg. how many little people icons there are in the row above the town) and your tax rate?

4.Why are some of the little people icons showing guys with pitchforks? Are these somebody special or are they unhappy campers?

5.I can't get a grip on how a provinces income is calculated. You have a town generating, say 2 gold pieces and three villages giving 1 each. Is the total income for the province then 5 and if so why doesn't that tally with the income shown for the province on the province summary?

6.How is the global kingdom economy calculated? Eg. tributes from towns and taxes.

7.Spies when they infiltrate a court can be given missions. Under each mission is a couple of numbers. Am I correct in thinking that the first is the % chance of success and the second is the % chance of getting caught while performing this particular mission?

I have the 1.05 patch installed and, yep, I've asked a lot of questions. I've managed to find my way to the archived sunflower forums but cant' figure out how to search them.

Cheers,
Plugger

Ah, welcome to the BSS Forum, the last official forum of KoH on earth.

I am not as experienced in modding the game files as other in here, so I don't know the answer to ALL of your question, but I know some.

2. Yeah, but if you take men from that town, the town can regrowth again.
3. There is a number in econst, I think?
4. Unhappy and possible rebelling.
6. It is on the Economy bar
7. Emm, maybe?

Welcome to the forum.

I'll answer your questions in free text, since I think it's easier that way.
Each town has a maximum population, which is determined by the number of buildings in the town. With every third building that is constructed the maximum population increases, if I remember correctly. The actual population within the town can be any amount less or equal to the maximum population.
Drawing a squad of soldiers from the population reduces the actual population by 1. Over time, regardless of the availability of food, the population grows back to the maximum population.
Each of the solid (that means, not translucent) symbols above the town relate to one citizen and each of them pays a certain tax-rate. If I remember correctly it's something like 0.2 coins per time-tick and citizen - however it's been a long time since I looked it up.
The solid symbols with pitchforks relate to the percentage of people that would be willing to support an uprising against the authorities. As far as I know it is merely another graphical representation of the rebellion-risk.
The tax-income is not affected by people living in the villages around the town. Those symbols of workers above the vollages relate the the amount of workers available in town, which makes construction of buildings quicker. They don't add to the tax-income.
The town-tribute is the sum of all money earned in any way beside taxes. That means e.g. a harbour adds to this income, specifically be the number of gold-coin icons shown above it, and a tax-office adds to it by the number indicated in the construction-menu. Also the number of buildings erected within the town can increase the town's tribute. There is a table somewhere in the game-files that e.g. says "When 12 buildings are constructed the toen receives +3 workers, +2 gold and +1 piety on top of it already has" (don't quote me on the numbers, I just made them up. I just use them to explain the principle). So it is possible that with one minor building the town-income rises significantly even though the building's description didn't say anything about that and a more important building doesn't get any such bonuses.

I think that covers most of your questions.
Oh, and yes, your analysis about the espionage-actions is correct.

Goodaye,

Thanks for both of your replys. Much appreciated.

I've one other question.

A lot of town improvements give increases in the Siege capacity or attacker attrition. Eg. Stone wall, +10 Town Siege Def and + Attacker's attrition.

How does this operate in practical terms if I'm either a: defending the town or b: attacking or laying siege to the town ?

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,
