This is the change log for the Open Beta version of the game which is now available for download at FilePlanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/worldshift/).

UPDATE 0.9.7 (17 March 2008)

PvP max unit points and units cost adjusted. Now you can have more tier 1 units with the same amount of tier 4 units (i.e. 6 troopers for 1 Hellfire now, versus 4 troopers for 1 Hellfire before)
Auto update notification now works reliably
Times to build units slightly decreased
Progressive cost for stacking same officers kind is slightly reduced
Portal number of eggs slightly reduced (from 7 to 5)
Hellfire armor and hit points very slightly reduced
Shrine sight fixed (was very low)
Control Tower motion detector price increased from 75 to 120
Control Tower defence perimeter price decreased from 250 to 200
Upgraded structures hit points increased
Small structures hit points decreased
Minor overhaul of all global actions. Prices, cooldowns, effects tweaked to improve gameplay.
Trooper and Ripper hit points slightly increased
Ripper damage slightly increased
Fixed patch execution on Vista to prompt for admin login when Worldshift tries to patch itself under non-admin credentials.
Officers and commander button clicks:
- Left click: select this unit and only it (like it is now)
- Shift-Left: add/remove to selection
- Ctrl-Left: select all units of this type (not only in view)
- Ctrl-Shift-Left: add/remove units of this type (like same click in view but for all units)
- Double Click: first click works normal (modifiers applied), second click centers camera on the unit
Fixed an error that caused objects to appear completely black in fog and not just exploration.
Shift+1-9: Add/Remove to selection (currently it only adds)
Message box displayed if the game is started and another copy is already running
Units now have different cost in Location games and PVP games
No more floating numbers in action tooltips
Fixed the problem where the cursor changes when action is about to perform thus giving the illusion no action is actually selected.
Field Overseer name properly displayed in selection window
Chat ui update: The language of the regional channel is now selectable.
Prompt to quit message box now moved above the pause window.
Antialiasing setting added to the video settings
Chat bug where game ends while user is chatting is now fixed
Items picked now hidden when game finishes
Minimap/chat are now visible when observing the game
In-game chat - added recipient at the left of edit box
Conversation history now shows in center of the screen with 'Tab' key
Perimeter Defense action now cannot be executed multiple times resulting in more than 3 turrets
Added several loading screens for practice maps and special locations
Corrupted Fields: Fixed a desync and some other problems when fields leaders die during the first special encounter
Proper handling of GameSpy disconnects (game attempts to reconnect again on a regular basis)
Fixed crash when GameSpy connection is lost while loading.
Fixed a bug in mission "Caught in the web" causing 2 Tritechs to be unatackable

UPDATE 0.9.6 (15 March 2008)

Fixed memory leak in the game lobby / in game, which caused game slow on the non host machines in the end game and player drops.
Quick join button now works properly
Allow to be inspected is now enabled by default
Implemented practice (1v1,2v2,3v3,all,small,big) filter and creating custom games
Scrollbar in resolution settings now works
Howling Horror's Howl fear duration decreased
Disabled multiple selection on enemy/ally units
Fixed glitches with fog of war and object proxies under fog.
Passive abilities which force target to attack the unit (like Brute's Growl) will no longer interrupt boss abilities. Lord Commander's Confuse action still works.
Queen Protectors and Kharum drones are now easier to target with the mouse.

UPDATE 0.9.5 (14 March 2008)

Lobby: Game names are now localized depending on the player's language
Mission rewards can now be taken after winning the mission (sorry!)
Shielded a crash when disconnecting from game that hasn't been started yet
Shielded against crashes during render in case the D3D device gets lost in the midst of rendering.
Hidden objects will also hide their lights
Breeders and Portals will no longer spawn eggs while destroyed
Fixed a passability issue near Adam in Dunetown Base
Dunetown Base: Reduced the duration of Frank N. Stein's madden
Renegades' hideout Erkh Arul battle implemented
HUFX should now use the correct faction colors to colorize occluded units.
Buildings no longer visible under fog when they shouldn't be.
Automatch: fixed some connectivity issues and a crash while automatcjing
Slightly decreased the number of xenolite mines on the map in PvP modes.
Unit summoning sounds now should be audible only to their owner.
New attack cursor
Deathmatch is now 1v1 by default

UPDATE 0.9.4 (13 March 2008)

The final boss battle in Ancient Corridors made more difficult
Fixed crash when changing window resolution.
Added new action cursor (was hand previously) and new attack cursor (when hovering enemy units)
Fixed a crash when Replay button is clicked after mission is lost.
Mission rewards no longer possible to get when right clicking on them
[From] and [To] are no longer clickable in in-game chat when replying to private messages
Fixed a bug allowing mission "A bolt from the blue" to be won with Onkar still alive

UPDATE 0.9.3 (12 March 2008)

Fixed a crash when running the game for the first time and trying to apply settings or just wait longer at the Login screen

Commander and Officers health bars updated on mission restart or checkpoint load.
Eggs spawn time increased
Breeder eggs count decreased to 3
Changed Shock Trooper projectile color to red
Changed Shock Trooper damage spread over distance (lower at close range, higher at max range)
Increased Shock Trooper health points
Selection groups cleared on map load (and not cleared on checkpoint load)
Update from/to versions are now visible in downloading updates screen
GameSpy: automatching players are properly shown while preparing to automatch
Number of deathmatch searching players is now displayed in the meters during the preparing stage
Elite Squad, Infest and Breed actions now will despawn the already spawned units
Xenolite respawn time increased
Intro and logo movies should not flicker and stutter anymore
Sorcerer's frost wave no-longer affect allies
Graphic effects no longer leak when destroying constructions
Fixed rare game freeze caused by the Surgeon's behave logic
Flocks disabled in multiplayer
Player's last chosen race and color is now persisted
Arbiter: Fear Shock power cost increased
Dominator: Power Fuse power cost increased
Harvester: Vitality Surge cool down increased; Hit points slightly reduced
Master: Feed base decreased slightly; Feed power cost increased slightly; Nether nova power cost increased
Shifter: Power leak effect slightly reduced
Trisat: Armor, damage and frenzy duration slightly reduced
Judge: Hit points slightly increased
Ripper: damage increased
Trooper: Armor increased; Grenade chance, damage and radius slightly increased
Madness specialization effects reduced from 10/20 to 5/10
New drop lists added for new dungeons
Units now visible through some solid objects (like base buildings)
Added death sounds to the French-speaking units.
Implemented lobby 'wanna swap' indicator
Fixed a Lua error when invalid CD key is typed
Fixed a Lua error when playing credits
Added loot to Ancient Corridors bosses
Canceling unit production does not desync the game anymore
Game now takes less CPU time when in background
Officers in selection window now stack properly
Briefing sound and music stopped when MP game starts
Cooldown now visible in action tooltips
Selection window now stops mouse clicks (previously selection was lost on mouse click)
Fixed a bug with missing logos on create new account
Officers of the same type now increase cost depending on the officers count: 100, 100, 200 and 300.
Updated chat members sorting
Fixed an issue with logos being erased
Player race stats (how much played with each race) now working
Fixed some desyncs occurring when playing practice fames with several players and AI opponents.
Fixed an issue with destroyed buildings continuing to produce units.
First checkpoint is now not disabled when the third mobs group is alive in mission "Ascent"
Fixed a bug causing units to sometimes leave the boundaries of the map

UPDATE 0.9.0 (7 March 2008)

Fixed a bug causing bad starting locations in random maps
Fixed a bug allowing starting in a practice game with more than 2 officers
Added "Renegades Hideout" location

Music random intervals shortened a bit
Implemented NPC conversation history log for missions (press Enter to show)
Items now scattered in Skirmish mode as well
Fixed an issue with tips occasionaly getting cut

Added and interface animation when shards count increase
New items icons added
Lobby: general channel is now language dependent.

ZulThark not that powerfull anymore
"Ignore all invitations", "Inspection not allowed" and "Show only friend invitations" settings now work properly

Set the right model (LanZealot) for the hologram at the end of Dunetown Base
Adjusted the scale of Frank's model
Item recycle bin is now animated

PLZ give another download location than fileplanet. its annoying with the wait time and the download speed....

btw will you post here when its aviable to download?

and will there be an update from version 0.8.13 to 0.9.2??

Yes, make another download location. I will watch fileplanet for updates. It will be good to make update to 9.0, because the folks who already have the game wouldn't need to download the whole thing again.

zip file from fileplanet for the game client gives an error when unpacking. Game won't install correctly

must we use the same code as in the closed beta?

good to hear... well the fileplanet link is quite fast this time 1400-1500kb/s. isnt that fast all the time, but cant u provide a torrent link? if think it would be much better if someone want to pause the download or if it crashes for some reason

Yes, the same code. I want do download it but i requires signup. Ok I signed up though I don't need the code but it gives me "Invalid code" picture and doesn't want to continue. What to do?
EDIT: I tried through IE and it worked :)
Download will finish in 1-1:30 hours.

Nice balance changes. I like the ripper boost and cult nerfs.
Kinda weird change to the shocktroopers, buffing hp and nerfing damage. Maybe the goal was to lessen the shock effect from the out of the blue spawn but still retain usefulness?

Shards chance increase is also cool but I would still prefer removing the shards altogether.



Edit: No news about open beta on the website?

just downloaded again from a different fileplanet server. still getting error message when unpacking. C:\Users\Dad\Downloads\WorldShift_(OPEN_BETA).zip: CRC failed in ws\data\models.xe. The file is corrupt. I tried winrar and winzip

trying downloading it again for the 3rd time now

I have winrar 3.71, newest listed

ok, downloaded from a west coast server and it unpacked ok. 2 east coast servers were corrupt, wouldnt unpack

I'm having some problems downloading or rather installing the update. In game he downloads it, turns back to desktop and then.... nothing happens. Is there any known issue with Vista? or may somebody tell me how to outsmart vista? (maybe some of this security sh** blocks the updat- though i always tried to deactivate that firewall thing and stuff)

@Cherti: I`ve had this problem, too, using Vista! The fix is easy - you have to run the game as administrator. So just right-click at Worldshift.exe in the \bin - directory of the game installation directory and choose "run as administrator". The patch will be installed now.

when I log in it says new patches are aviable to download but when I do my screen goes black and then back to my desktop with no new patch downloaded. what am I doing wrong.

I have no problems with it, its simply starts downloading for me. Maybe you have some internet connection issues.

Just hope people know how to deal with port forwarding then. :p

PS: DanteOne wasn't complaining, he merely said that FP is bad for downloads (Which it is).
Many people are possibly turned away by signing up for the DL, stuff you don't need to do when using alternate locations such as Filefront/FileHippo/BT etc.

Stop complaining and be greatful.

You need a GameSpy account anyway if you want to play WorldShift Beta and many other games. The same account can be used to login to Fileplanet. Besides Fileplanet wasn't chosen only for its hosting capabilities(which I think are much better than the alternatives you present), but mainly for its ability to distribute CD-KEYs.
