I was in the mood for a strategy game. Emperor:RotMK is boring now and I tried the demo for Anno 1701 but it was boring after 5 minutes.

I just downloaded the demo from Gamershell and played as Scotland. It's a great game and I don't know why I hadn't heard of it earlier.

I have some questions though...

One of my starter cities had about 3 or 4 villages around it providing builders meaning I had about 12 builders building things quickly. My other cities with loads of buildings built seem to have about 4 builders maximum, is this just city limit that you can't do anything about?

I played for about 2 hours and was struggling with the amount of spaces for people in the royal court. I only had 2 or 3 marshals and the rest were merchants. So how would I manage if I had 6+ cities trying to defend them all and still make money with so few spaces for armies? How many merchants do you usually have far on in the game?

What's the best thing to waste money on when you have inflation?

I got kicked out (forget the word) by the pope. Why?

Also, books seem to take ages to make. How do you see what upgrade you get when you spend 1000 to upgrade someone?

I hope you don't change too much of the gameplay for KoH2, just smooth out bits and add new features. Caesar 4 compared to C3 and Emperor:RotMK was embarrassing!

Well i can answer you on your second question, i had the same problem when i first started playing.
But you have to increase kingdom Power. In case u havn't noticed, there is a little bar in the top left corner of the screen, with the number 0, or maybe 1. Click on this to increase kingdom power. This will also increase income and happiness. And so in this way, you'll do fine with like 3 merchants. But personally i realy think that the space for royal court members should be expanded a bit.

Personally i like the fact that you have to make some tough choices concerning the occupation of the members of your royal court. Usually i play with 2 merchants and gradually expand the number of marshals. In the beginning two armies working in cooperation will be able to destroy the invading forces of most nations, later on i might want a bit more armies to accelerate the conquest. But even then i will usually keep them operating in tandem.

The amount of builders depends on the surrounding area of the city and on the type of building in your city. Its easy to see which type of settlements outside the city provide you with workers. The type of settlements per province are fixed, however you can build buildings in your city which increase the number of workers.

Also, what's the most damage that rebels can do? Usually they just attack the surrounding area. I had a few breakouts, but when I quit I saw that I was in the top 3 happiest nations.

And how long does it take for nostalgia and war tiredness (forget the exact name) to go down? The war thing's at about -20 and some towns have no buildings that can increase happiness.

And you need to own a city that has horses or can you trade them?

Hello.

Rebels will decide to assault a town when they feel they are strong enough to put up with the defenses. So when you don't deal with them they can become a problem.

War tiredness will go away a minute after you signed the last peace-treaty (yes, only the formal war/peace-state is of concern, actual casualties are not). Nostalgia will also start to decrease during peace-time (that means, when you have no war declared on any other nation), but it takes quite a while.

A trader can import horses if you tell him to. However you need to assign him to a trade-partner that has horses himself. Usually it isn't worth the effort though because your trader could just as well be extracting money from the trade-route, which, in the long run, is more important than the possibility to recruit advanced cvalry that you can't effort early on either way.

The type of settlements per province are fixed

Meaning they are the same in every game, not random like resources?
