View Full Version : Got no heirs
Hey, and greetings KoH community! ;). First time i write on this forum, so welcome me :).
Anyway, im playing as Bulgaria, and im in the unlucky situation that my king is too old to get any children, and he got no heirs. So i guess i should prepare for a civil war?. (wich is one of the features i REAL LOVE) Any thing i should prepare in advance before my king dies?. Maybe rid my generals of their soldiers, so their rebellion will loose power?.
And are there a chance that things will be resolved peacefully?.
And by the way, i gotta say that the "general rebel, when there is no heir to the throne" and the "you can plunder cities" is my absolute favorite things in the game!.
It depends on your general situation...
Do you have any recently conquered provinces which still have nostalgia? Is the risk of rebellion high?
And welcome to the forum!
Well too late, but thanks anyway.
Seems like that evil Cleric of mine took power and like 4 provinces rebelled. But all the generals with armies stand on my site. So it should be easy enough :).
the marshals usualy stay with you. The most important thing is to empty all garrisons of cities that didn't belong to you since the beggining - especialy those that have some nostalgia. And then conquer them all as fast as possible (before they will be able to buy new units)
In my last game as byzantia I had to reconquer some 15 provinces.. but with 3 extremely strong generals and Varangians as the most common unit it was very easy and fast :)
Just don't be too slow, man. When a province of mine rebeled and I was busy at war, it came to power and quickly conquered some 7 other provinces (fortunately not mine) and even got into the top 10 kingdoms !!!
Quite often, you do not lose your generals and armies. Usually it would only be early in game, when you don't have a member of your court that was once a royal family member. I have found that when no heir, one of your Knights that was previously a prince will receive the crown. Now if you have a lot of provinces that have not been adopted into the kingdom yet, they usually rebel. It is possible that if a marshall is stationed in one of those provinces he could turn rebel.

Greetings all,
This is my first time back in a long while!
What I do when faced with the situation of no heirs is this:
~Have a cleric adopt the population to eradicate nostalgia
~Appoint princes as Clerics/Spies to ensure a secure throne for the King-to-be
~Let my Kingdom sit and not go to war or move my marshals from recently conquered provinces so as to go to war quickly just in case if they secede.
Cheers,

how in the world do u appoint princes?!?
They are talking about hiring your Princes as the clerics and spies for your kingdom.
ah!!! now i get it... nice cheap trick :D
