View Full Version : Base defenses
I'm still very new to this game, so this view might change once I get a little more into it.
Am I the only one who feel the human base turrets are a bit too powerful compared to the other races' fixed defenses? I've played several games now where I quickly get map control - sometimes leaving my opponent with only one point - but I just can't penetrate his defenses. It turns into this cycle where I will build up a full army, get wiped, my opponent takes back a point while I rebuild and puts turret on it, rinse repeat for 30 minutes until I run out of points.
Before I start running around yelling omg imba nerf nerf, it would be cool if someone had any input on how these turrets are best defeated, and how other races' bases compare.

It is certainly very doable especially if the opponent only has a base. You need to take down the turrets first and also make sure some stronger units (that is with more hp) take the aggro.
That is not to say that the turrets should not be toned down a bit.
I focus fire on the turrets, but I can only kill one before my army get's too small to take on the next. By the time I get back, it's rebuilt.
What I usually try doing is to send a couple harvesters at them and have my lord heal them with feed (plus whatever other units I can afford, obviously). A problem with this though is that they take so much damage that if my timing is a little off it all goes to heck.
There's definately room for improvement on my part in terms of strategy, but I just find these turrets so hard to take down compared to any other base or unit.

Hmm I have no problem with the turrets. Use your spells accordingly.
I'm a Human player tho but i have to say that in my opinion it's a bit overpowered.
In my last game i had 2 bases within 1 screen, both bases with turrets. This would destroy like every army, even another human army which attacks cooardinated with strikes and combined fire.
I'd say the atk rate/damage output of the turrets should be lowered a bit and also the bases ground defense/durability should be lowered.
It also Could be just me, but in some games it's getting a draw. especially human vs human / human vs cult. (That's my experience so far)

Well, in order to allow for some diversion tactics I would suggest:
1) Slightly lowering the HP of upgraded bases
2) Greatly decreasing the damage output of upgraded bases (both the direct damage of Human and Mutant bases and the degen-like damage of the Alien base)
3) Slightly decreasing the damage of Fire Lash and Perimeter Defense
In the moment it is very hard to take down an upgraded base with anything else than full force.

i want same defenses for cult , the defenses of the cult bases are a big joke......a few eggs who are not able to destroy some npc units....omg and humans......what act of balance
