Competition with the kingdom spain

Condition: Install MOD HARD InvasionEconomic FinalMP (download see MOD HARD Invasion Thread)) and download the SpainStart save or Teutonic StartSave ( Pause off ). Setting of the save: Hard .

Play for four hours (open the ingame clock with F11) and send to me the save after finished your game. I will post the result with some picture in this thread.

Its an good idea to open a competition with an unmodded game in another thread.
I can download a new Start save for an unmodded game, if never want start a new competition.

Well done. I barely lasted an hour of play before I was wiped out. I'm still getting used to your mod and am finding it a lot tougher than the standard game (which I think is a great thing).

I started off with a policy of not annoying anyone until I was sufficiently strong enough. I managed to build up my economy (trade / merchants / silver mine) to a goodly size but I'd barely managed to build a wooden pallisade and get an army together before Cordoba invaded me with five!!! armies. I beat off the first three (crossbowmen are tough!) but I was eventually overwhelmed.

Lots of fun. I'll try again and see how I go.

I know this moments ! At the beginning of the game i havent any problems to become trade agreements. Than the kingdom france offer me to open a war agains the kingdom Italy, first i look if the kingdom france already was in war with this kingdom. But i decided to refuce the offer. The kingdom france give me now the province Languedoc if i open a war agains Italy. I take the provinces and open a war agains Italy. The combats with the italy armies cost me a lot of gold and in this times i can not take the gold to build new buildings.
Later in the game make france a white peace with italy and i stand alone in war with italy. Now the armies comes in my Land and i have only one army in Catalonia and the other army in Languedoc. But both provinces havent any palisade. Languedoc havent any good troops to recruit, so i must recruit the best troops in Catalonia. In the moment if i recruit with one army new troops in catalonia three italy armies invaded the provinces Languedoc and marched directly to my town. Hurry up!. I recruit new troops in Catalonia ( but the gold wasnt enough to buy good troops ) and marched directly to the town in Languedoc.
The town was already in combat and i reach in last second the town and win with terrible lost of mens. Both of the nobles from this battle was in my prison and i decided to let go the noble home to his kingdom of italy and after this i make an offer for a white peace and Italy want have the white peace. The kingdom of Italy have more income if i have, so the peace was a luck for my kingdom.
By the way: Three times i siege with two marshals the last town in normandy, but i cant win and lost tree times terrible. I have good troops: Crossbowmen and swordsmen.

It's interesting reading how you managed to survive and thrive.

I tried again last night and had a very different game. This time Cordoba was busy in another conflict and so I was left in relative peace sufficiently long enough to build up and even get a stone wall constructed.

Then my king died of old age. The peasants revolted and started burning down my farms. I immediately marched my army of crossbowmen and swordsmen over to defeat them. Unfortunately it worked the other way around as I found myself outnumbered 2 to 1. There were almost 500 rebels including some swordsmen!!!

My crossbowmen ran out of arrows and I lost my entire army, overwhelmed by weight of numbers. By the time I had recruited another marshal and a second army the rebels had elite units and better morale than me!!! My second army went the way of the first. At which point one of my neighbours declared way - sensing my weakness - and marched a couple of armies in to besiege my castle which soon ran out of food.

I lasted one hour and five minutes this time. A little better. I was surprised how different this game was from the first, even though I used your save game file for both. Great fun. I'll give it one more go.

Goodaye Lauden,

Third time lucky. I managed to last four hours, but only just. My King was infertile with no offspring and teetering on the verge of death. My mighty spanish empire was hanging on by a thread.

I ended up with four provinces, all of which I obtained through diplomacy. My military efforts were purely defensive and my spies ineffective. However I built up a strong economic base and was able to wheel and deal my way out of serious trouble.

My score wasn't as good as yours but I'm still very pleased to have survived and thrived. I'll give the Teutonic Knights a go next.
