This is the change log for the Open Beta version of the game which is now available for download at FilePlanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/promotions/worldshift/).

UPDATE 1.0.2 (22 March 2008)

Fixed crash when finishing the last mission
All movies should now play much more smoothly
Technicians in mission "A bolt from the blue" are no longer attackable
Added button to show conversation history
Conversations paused when the game is paused
Fixed some fog-of-war related issues
Pinned actions no longer reset when one of the selection unit dies
Applying settings now do not recreate the device if not needed
Fixed Tharksh's ship in french to not overlap with the health
Casting actions on the selection icons now properly clears the action (if shift is not down)
Fixed a bug where executing area action would fail if an immune to that action unit is under the cursor

UPDATE 1.0.1 (22 March 2008)

Fixed several Lua errors
Added sounds to several units/creatures
Fixed an error sound in the ability grid interface
Now the "New item acquired" message should be audible only to players in the same team and not the opponents.
Fixed a bug causing first mission to not invoke victory screen if mission has been replayed after Onkar has died.
Guardians will no longer Shift to non-passable locations
It is no longer possible to click (or see) allied players' Reinforce buttons
Fixed the bad text wrapping in the Enter CD Key screen (German).
Fixed ZulThark battle
Fixed crash when disconnected while loading a game.
Fixed crash when player exits in game and is still not connected to gamespy.
Fixed Lua error when showing fr/de credits.

It's no longer possible to cancel the building of units of allies
ROM Droids HP reduced
Safari bugs poison damage reduced
Safari scorpions damage reduced a little
Alien structures enviroment changers removed
Fix: alien unit feedback sounds no more overlap.

Game now is paused while being in in-game menu
Alt-tab out of a running game and alt-tab in again now preserves the sound volume
Fixed the ‘Denkar ni’Varra/Arna ni’Varra/Kuna ni’Dahl is dead’ messages in the French version.
Tritech armor increased from 0 to 1
Tritech range increased
GameSpy: Fixed infinite hang while network connection is disabled while trying to connect.
Fix: in-mission building descriptions now shouldn’t have any more text wrapping issues.
Uninstaller now asks whether to keep user profiles and settings
Language dialog now localized
Implemented in-game players status window (TAB)
Fixed a bug causing shields to not absorb damage properly
ROM Base: Tweaked HF1337's shield, Shield Generator now properly provides HF1337 with srong shield regen
Buildings should now update on minimap correctly even when they're not in the view.
Fixed a bug causing Airstrike to malfunction
Minimap notifications are now working properly
Added items drop to Scorpion boss in Safari
GameSpy: When in-game disconnected from GameSpy, currently obtained items are saved properly.
Wins in Deathmatch/Skirmish are now rewarded with 3 battle points.
Losses can result in 0, 1 or 2 battle points depending on the game.
PvP rewards offer cost reduced from 8 bp to 5 bp
Collecting artifacts in Deathmatch will now reward each team member with 100 resource
"Summon Workers" now cost resources
Destroying a Breeder / Portal will now cause all eggs to be destroyed ... with all the consequences.
New players names length is reduced to 14 characters
Fixed an exploit in the last mission
Inspect now always allowed
"Chaos" mission: Activating checkpoint before Vasilii after Vasilii conversation has started will no longer cause problems (if you die and replay the encounter will start again)
Players now auto-enter the [Game] channel when creating/entering a game
Added voice to the "You have been invited to join a game" and "You have received an authorization request" messages (English and German).
Fixed a Lua error when accepting an invitation for a game.
Minor fixes in the German translation.
Briefings music volume increased
Added voice for the "Object busy" message (English and German).
Added voice to the "Your forces are under attack" message (English and German).
Music intervals adjusted
Renegades Hideout balance pass
Major overhaul of the specialization trees
Added voice to the specialization-related messages: "Not enough xenoshards", "Not enough stars", "Not enough stars on previous specializations", "Previous specializations not unlocked". (EN & DE)
Implemented the "Not enough resources"/"Unit limit reached" in-mission messages and attached voice to them. (EN & DE)
Attached a voice message when not enough unit points are available while buying units before a mission.
Drops lists in all dungeons now "real"

UPDATE 0.9.9 (19 March 2008)

Fixed a bug where destroying a building that currently produces units does not give back resources and unit points
Fixed a crash when taking mission reward
Resetting specialization tree now requires 10 shards
Kharum: Removed second part, now "Talk To Ran Boo" follows directly after defending the village. Also added minimap pings for the power sources.
BSA Changes:
- Increased the preparation time for the Reptile fight explosions (the red beams) from 2 to 5 seconds
- Increased the explosions damage from 2500 to 7000. The explosions now will ignore the armor of the Reptile.
- In the final battle the number of Hellfires was increased from 3 to 6. The Hellfires will now come from 3 sides instead of one.
- Reptile changes: Increased armor, Decreased speed, Slightly increased the area damage
Shifter range slightly increased
Tritech hit poitns slightly increased
Horrors howl area slightly reduced
Player now can get into the menu with F10 while game is paused
Added tooltip to inventory item destruct vortex
ROM Difficulty adjusted
Fixed a bug where item frame remains in ingame item slot on restart map if there was item
Multiplayer: Removed incorrect "dropped" message on the loading map screen, when last player successfully loaded map!
Fixed a desync that happens sometimes when user is holding control down and action is send from synced part of the code
Added cursor for building a construction on Xenolite
Chat user list now sorted case insensitive
Kharum: Ran Boo is now healable
In-game camera now zooms a little furhter in and out
Prices of HowlingHorror and Ripper very slightly increased.
Units points needed for Shifters and Overseers decreased from 5 to 4.
Overseer base damage slightly increased
It's no longer possible to select more than one game to join in practice and location modes
Added icons for passive abilities
Incinerate spot can be stacked 2 times
Ripper's armor decreased
Added sound on minimap pings
Added sound when artifacts are collected on the field
Hatchlings hit points increased
Fixed the text wrapping issue (ending punctuation at the beginning of a line) in mission descriptions, briefings, and conversations.

UPDATE 0.9.8 (18 March 2008)

Corrupted Fields: Fixed a bug causing mind control to last forever. Also mind control will now end if the shade which did it is killed.
Show the version of the other user in "Inspect" window
It is no longer possible to start special location with not allowed units
Decreased Hellfire unit points cost from 6 to 5
Slightly decreased Trooper's hp and damage
Slightly decreased Ripper's hp
Increased the exit area (which triggers victory if all characters are there) in mission "Sneaking In"
Fixed a tooltip bug in mission "Sneaking In"
'Select starting units' button will blink and 'Ready' button will be disabled if no starting units are selected
Fixed several German ability descriptions
Fixed bug that caused the loading screen to have wrong icons
It is no longer possible to issue multiple global actions quickly in laggy games.
Added Scorpion boss to Safari
Alt-tab no longer leads to black bars at the top and bottom of the ingame screen
Slightly increase Tritech's hp
Slightly decreased Trooper's armor
Prompt dialog appearance changed
Inspecting other player no longer apply the player's item as own.
Unit names in line-up dialog and in multiple selection window now localized
"The Renegades’ Hideout" special location is now available after completing the last mission ("A battle of minds"). Players that have already completed this mission will have to replay it one more time to unlock the new location.
Number of players searching are now shown in the Deathmatch Meters separately for 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 games
Game does not crash now if unable to set the desired full screen resolution but displays an error dialog instead.
Added confirmation sounds for the alien units.
Hellfire's shield increased with 50%
Xenolite no longer selectable in missions
Fire Lash area of damage decreased
Kharum: Ran Boo will resume following if his target has died and then revived
New drop added, drops lists now "real" in Safari, Dunetown Base
When kicked out of game display proper message
It is no longer possible to start practice game with no opponents
It is no longer possible to change game name in practice mode
Fixed a Lua error when selecting Harvester

black bars isnt fixed if you switch to the game if its already started and not loading anymore

Good you are making the zoom better. I hope we see amazing zoom in(and out) when the final version comes like on some of the screens.
The 10 shard reset is a great decision!

Good thing the crash after reward is fixed. Only crash i've gotten.

Any chance trisats will get a major movement speed buff? They feel way too slow in coop play.

why are u increasing the range of the tritech while its still CLOSE-COMBAT?? it does maximum dmg at close range and only a bit dmg on high range.

hopefully music comes more often now.

btw i like the pvp changes but i thought they were working on a different way. i thought the winner would get less BP if the enemy is weak. this would prevent Exploiting. like it is now, you can still exploit if 2 players doing it and leaving. so everytime 1 player gets 3BPs.
if the BPs for the winner would be reduced, it would be more fair. if a good player wins against a weak, then he should get 3 points

btw XFire now recognizes Worldshift Beta. So you will now get some more publicity throught friends, and friends friends that see me playing worldshift.

Weird. I always saw the Tritech as a Ranged unit (it DOES shoot at range, no?), and wondered why it wouldn't do as much damage as expected. If your statement is true, then I am now utterly confused... the Cult is horrible at close combat. Trisats splatter in no time, Shifters absolutely don't like close enemy contact, nor do Tritechs or any other unit aside from the harvester. Which, even then, is decent at best. Althoguh Howling Horrors seem to suffer more in this regard... as Tribe player you're usually better off picking a horde of brutes instead of the howlies, just because they live longer. Doesn't make sense...

some units got different dmg on different range. first number represent close-combat dmg (if it stand right before enemy) and 2nd number stands for ranged dmg (if it shoots from maximum range)

example:
dominator is 45-15
this means he does 45dmg if he stand in front of enemy and only 15 if he shoots from range.

for me its that way:
ranged unit = meant for ranged firing and doiung maximum dmg on that
closecombat unit = meant for close combat, doing maximum dmg if its right infront of a unit, even if its firing over some range

i know this is off topic , however i just DL'd the beta client via FP. Got acct all set up, logged in, got to the update part. DL'd the update and at 99% says file is corrupt and closes it out. So I searched the boards here and found links to manually install , DL'd all the the patches from 9.2-1.0.2 , tried to install 9.2-9.5 again same message. I dont run vista, i have Windows Xp. Pentium 4 3.0 , 1.5gigs ram, cable e-net.

Thank you for the reply. However, after reading countless posts ive tried a bunch of things and still nothing, its been 2 days and im done. I wish you luck on the game, a suggestion i can make from my experience, if you do digital DL's for whatever reason, definately look into the problems that have been happening to not only me but atleast 30 people on the forums. It is a huge pain.

Plus, you can still accidently start a game with less units. I wanted to bite my keyboard for not selecting a second officer before the match started.
