It seems to be, that Black sea is developing KOH2 :-) yeah. They are searching for a publisher.

KoH 2 for the XBOX360 is a good idea. 19 Millions user have a XBOX360. Sell only 1 million of KoH 2 and the company can be happy.
I have a XBOX360 due and i want buy the KoH 2.
KoH 2 can you play sure on the XBOX.

O holy mother Mary and St. Sophronius! It cannot be!! My hearts desire (well, one of them anyway) has been accorded me with favour! But like Anguille, I will need the PC version! May Sts. Oh, and since now's the best time to start asking things before it's too late to change them - BSS, please, make it easily moddable! That's one of the keys for the success of the TW series and if you beat them in that too, well, the game would rock even more! I'm sure all current KoH modders will agree too, right? :)

Btw, Goethicus, you're Russian, right (considering the "f" in Mefodii - Russian spelling, AFAIK)? ;)

But honestly, I agree. I'd rather wait to hear it straight from the developers before jumping to conclusions.

The Company is no fake. They search publishers for developer studios. But it seems, they currently dont have one for KOH2 :-/.

1. I loved KOH and i always wanted to create new strategic worldmap and combat maps. -> Make it easyly modable and a good MapEditor !

2. Multiplayer was also boring.
As i remember the old KOH Forum, all people speaked about a big Multiplayer on the Worldmap.

There will be a KoH 2?????????? GREAT!

Definitely worths to be in :)

Frujin - about this multiplayer thing – isn’t there 2 very different game concepts at the core of this?

1. A very large-scale multiplayer ‘Battle’ game for the ‘hack and slash’ action group played over a short time period (this likely appeals to the vast majority of gamers), and

2. A large complex ‘Strategic’ game for those who like long running strategic play, and don’t really need large multiplayer ‘action’ to enjoy the game (though some form of multiplayer competition is desired)
It seems to me that trying to combine both concepts in one game will likely hurt both concepts (ie this combination of 1+1 doesn’t equal 2 but something far less) – hopefully KoH2 will continue the focus on concept 2 above (with some form of multiplayer), and carry on the tradition that was started in KoH.

This will be the hardest time ever, waiting for a game:D

Koh is kind of a game i was looking looong time for, and now with improved grafiks, and maybe some new features it will be Nr 1one for me;)

Plz plz dont change much in the overall gameplay.
Many sequels of great games ruined the game itself with too much "inovation";)

The real time world map+strategy map is so wonderfull realized, with new nicer grafiks, maybe some climazones, various terrains, greater armys size(love to watch the army moving on world map and with 1 army= moore units=looks moor intensiv)it will be just perfect.

Dont let us zoom out in on the world map (at beginning was anyoing for me:D, but in combination with the mini map no need for zoom out ) because i find out that was 1 of the reasons i feel so "in" the world:)

Same for 3d battles, for example the max zoom for mtw1 in battlemod was just perfect,it was playable u got a good overview of the battle but u was not too far from the units so u was able to see the differend units.
In mtw2 the zoom was too far from the units, so u got nothing from the great grafics because in "playable" zoom u saw just some "black points on the field"

best wishes for the BSS team.
sry for my limited english:)

Hehe Frujin, thanks for this comment :-), you made me happy.

Please don't use too much 3d graphics (maybe only for the rts part), because i liked very much the pixelart of the worldmap, the icons and the menue.

But i think you will make it good.

splEEnfiRe
23 Mar 2008, 15:57
i would like a new 3d graphic, something new.....
But i hope that the game will be more complex than the first volume. More possibilities, raw materials, weapon production, units, mabye a bigger world.

It should be a new game with all the features from KoH1 plus new stuff.

Richard
23 Mar 2008, 17:12
As long as they do not sacrifice gameplay in order to get some eye candy, I'm all for better graphics in battles. The political map looks very well as is and changing to 3d will result in something similar to EUIII which looks lifeless and dull.

Laudan
23 Mar 2008, 17:39
Normaly we dont need better graphics. The game is good enough.
We need a good multiplayer part, the behavoir of the AI must improved , only small things must change. Perhaps an addon with the map from elvain, many new events, some ideas from this forum is full enough. The game must modable, in the moment to much can not change in the game.
But i think ,Koh2 want give me not the same feeling as the Koh game as does.
Otherwise, KoH its enough for me, I must not have indeed KoH2.

elvain
23 Mar 2008, 20:42
I think that KoH2 should really add something remarkable to KoH1, not just be 3D KoH.

But yes, the gameplay should be based on current KoH gameplay, just expanded, What should survive is the concept os strategic europe view, perhaps even in 2D, and political map and then 3rd level with detailed battle view. I also would not change the concept of more or less quick battles, but making them little more epic would be nice. But on the other hand, in KoH2 a battle still should not last more than 15-20 minutes - even the largest battles with more armies involved should last up to 25 minutes

Where I see large space ofr expansion of current game? diplomacy, dynasty (family trees), economy... and, of course, AI rationality and grand map multiplayer (in this case I'm extremely pleased by Frujin's words)

I think that KoH should not try to compete with other RTS games in their advantages - it has great place between them: gives great gameplay wchich is has ballanced economy/diplomacy/warfare, if you expand the game little in each of these aspects so it is more logical and rational and add grand map multiplayer, KoH will be game no1 ever (at least for me - though it already is :) )

Perhaps an addon with the map from elvain...

oh, yes, that myobsession with historical geography started when I first saw KoH map - I wanted the best game to have the best map, so you know who I made it for :D

Well, let's just hope 3D will only be in the battle view (making the battle view 2D would perhaps make KoH beabsolutely outdated, though I prefere good 2D graphic - but this is simply nice, isn't it?)
I still hope that strategic and political views will remain wise 2D maybe partly 3D'ed

I still hope that strategic and political views will remain wise 2D maybe partly 3D'edGenerally I support 3d in all elements of the game.
The main disadvantage of the step to 3d is that it's difficult to navigate 3d space while it is easy to keep the overview in 2d. If the interface stays similar with a top-down view like KoH1 I see no reason not to switch to 3d.
I think I'd thoroughly enjoy the possibility of seeing mountains cast shadows from a moving sun, having differently colored light at dawn and dusk, smooth animations and models that can turn around in any direction instead of those 8 directions we had before.
That's all just eye-candy of course, but I think the athmosphere of the game would severely profit from good graphics.

Anyway, I wonder how long Worldshift will be maintained before BSS starts moving on to KoH2. Last time the maintainance-period wasn't very long, but that was Sunflowers and not RTL.

25 Mar 2008, 00:16
hey NaVatar, old friend, you're playing Renaissance Kingdoms too? Hah, nice.

@Mephistopheles:
Well, I'm pretty sure BIS will keep their support up for longer now. They've released a new patch 2 years after KoH was released, a time when most developers would've given the game up completely, so I think they're going to be pretty supportive of WorldShift, and also of KoH2 once it's out.

I think the second patch came to show their good will in opposition to Sunflowers' indiference to KoH.

I believe, or rather hope, that once WS is finnished most of the team may start working on KoH2 and only a part work on WS patches.. and the more after WS release, the more people work on KoH2..

And I trust BSS that they will support their games if the publisher will allow it ;)

Well, considering we already have some screens, I guess at least some people in BSS are working on KoH2. Whether they're officially working on this project or they're doing it in spare time (and for both cases, but especially if it's the latter, I thank them most sincerely), they are working nevertheless! ;)

I am hoping and thinking they wont change the main map very much. Just the Battlemap, thats what these lovely screenies look like anyway. And tbh it is the part of the first game which could use the most work.

I agree that 3D should not take priority over content.

I feel that gaming in general has been gradually declining because perfectly good games were ruined either with glits/glamor becoming the focus of developing games instead of substance/content or that Multi-Player was favored above single-player.

For example:

Civilization IV: A combination of too much 'innovation' and glitz/glamour and 3D ruined an otherwise perfect game in my opinion. A game on Civilization IV would last me three hours which is a disgrace for a game that encompasses all of human history and while the 3D sure made things interesting it also made things cumbersome and the maps were greatly reduced in size even on huge whereas Civilization III was 2D with HUGE maps, perfect and easy controls and was challenging, a single game lasted seventeen hours.

Warcraft III/World of Warcraft: The only flaw of Warcraft III was the 3D, in an RTS that's as intense as Warcraft you can hardly marvel over the building of a building or anything else when they're myriads of enemies attacking you which is why the 2D was by far more superior. World of Warcraft completed ruined everything that Warcraft was: An epic single-player medieval/fantasy RTS game by making it an MMORPG, Square Enix also made this mistake with the Final Fantasy series.

Again these are my observations based upon my opinions, I for one love Knights of Honor, the music is classic, the battles legendary, the 2D is very detailed and games last for a very long time which I think is an nonnegotiable necessity when developing a game based on history and sure the game has it's bugs but what game doesn't?

Therefore I'm really looking forward to Knights of Honor 2!

...

well now, i disagree
i play civ IV on epic speed and normal sized maps and it takes me atleast 20 h to finish game
what sucks in game is way religions are founded (buddist Isabella in every single game, give me a break  ) and modern warfare
3D didn't take anything from gameplay

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as of KOH2 I hope for more or less the same gameplay, fixed annoying bugs like those with crusades and a real map editor
