Frujin asked me to post on the forums on why I hate this game so much. I would like to clear up that I don't hate it. In fact I like it a lot. Just somethings aren't playable right now and the nightly patches aren't solving enough. There is like one or two fixes that truly matter per patch. 1.0.0 just released and I looked at the change log to find there was a couple more fixes than usual but most of it is adds. The adds are cool and great but fixes should always be first. As well, the single player is largely bugged and some players find it too hard. Now the bugs are easy to fix, just work on it for a few days but the hard part is a bit complex because you can't have someone playing the easy version but getting the same things as the harder version. Let me bring the idea of that Diablo started. two or three different settings, so like easy (medium maybe) hard. On easy you get lesser rewards, mostly grey's and green's at the end some yellow. While easy unlocks all multi-player locations so you can be perfectly content with just playing online and getting relics via locations/deathmatch. Hard can be used to test how good you are and have better relics, maybe even relics you can only get through SP, as long as there not uber relics... The other thing is that some people think the Single player story line is "dry" and "boring." Now I write some stories and everything so I can understand how hard it is to write a whole single player. I like how its not totally the same but it has the same basic idea in every level. So maybe you should look over the single player and adjust the game play and maybe the story line. I have very little idea's with this through, maybe you could "bring it more in"* by making some of the levels a FPS/RTS hybrid. So that people can actually aim and hit an enemy in the head and kill them. There are as well several problems with the MP version of the game, the fact you can get 5 points by getting a friend to leave a death match... Put a time limit on the game, with in the first 2 minutes no one can be killed... Don't make it past that because just cause someone is a noob doesn't mean you don't deserve battle points, or maybe a battle point system in which you get 1 battle point just for playing, 5 minutes = 2 bps, 10 min = 3 1/2, 20 min = 8. You should see the pattern here but you can also just camp a game so also make a cap on the max BPs you can get per game... say 10-15 bps... Also you should be able to save more than 99 BPs, you should make it unlimited because people work for those BPs and should get them no matter what. I can understand having limits in beta for this through because you don't want players to be too powerful before the game is released. Bringing me to my next section. (sorry I didn't put this in paragraphs, I'm being lazy cause I just woke up) These ideas are for the market side, when the release happens. I would suggest that the game only be 30 USD because of the fact that this game is not known well and if it's only 30 dollars you will get more word of mouth advertisement, instead of having to pay for tv ads and all of that you can just drop the price 20 dollars and on avg. get double the people than you would with tv or internet ads. Of course you should give out an internet ad banner so people can put them on their site for you free of charge, maybe even host that image for them so people won't have to worry about hosting for the image. Finally, this is not really an MMO in the sense that you should charge people a monthly for it. If you do charge a monthly it should be like 5 dollars a month and not pay for the game, just the subscription. Even doing that will loose you about 2/3s of the people. I would not suggest that. As well as all the beta testers are worried that there accounts may be deleted or relics taken away. I would have to say I would not buy the game if you did this because people worked just as hard or maybe even harder then you would in the final version of this game... Also maybe let the beta testers get an extra month of play, so when you go final you don't have to start getting people into the servers all over again. No one likes when you buy this great game and load it up... just to find that you paid for nothing but the single player. Also this beta testing isn't easy, maybe give the top bug finders a small reward... maybe a relic or something. I dunno just a thought.
In conclusion, I love this game and I want to see it succeed. Not only is it fun to play but a little addicting. There are just some problems with it right now, they don't call it beta for nothing...
* Bring it more in, meaning really effect the player and get them more into the game by putting them as one of the main characters, or having the ability to switch through the main characters.
Allow me to discuss your opinion by quoting. Because you do have some points there.
...and I looked at the change log to find there was a couple more fixes than usual but most of it is adds.
Partly agree. The adds make the game more fleshed out, but seeing how people still have graphical and game breaking issues, this shouldn't be top priority...

Already mentioned something like this as SC/HC mode. Personally, I'm enjoying the game's difficulty a great deal, because it is offering me a challenge, not a tourist-tour. If I wanted a tourist tour, I'd play CnC3 SP...or something.
Maybe add challenges? My friend just told me, he forgot to detonate the bombs in "Sneaking in" and snuck past the guards anyway. He should be getting a higher reward, for masterfully (albeit cluelessly) sneaking past a full fledged guard force. Give him a BADGE.<- *hint hint* Badge system *blatantly points into quake wars ET's direction* *points to City of Heroes with the other hand*

Well, it's nice for real MMORPG's, but this doesn't belong to a RTS, atleast not with the current concept the dev's had in mind.
Put a time limit on the game, with in the first 2 minutes no one can be killed...
What? Force people to go afk 2 minutes before the actions starts? Just...no. Maybe add it as practice match option, but ot regular DM.

You're right there. I wouldn't pay 45€ for it either, maybe 30-35. WS got a great concept, the idea to bring RTS and fast paced MP action together, but people will eventually be sceptical about this innovation and stick to the old stuff. (Paradox, because the same people are crying out loud for innovation all the time.)
Also, While I am enjoying WS, I'm not certain about the long-term motivation. the MP factor sure adds alot, but in the long run there'd be an add-on or a mappack to keep the game alive. Or an active modding community. That worked for many games... even d2. (Hellfire Mod, just to name one.)

This is a beta. It is custom to delete any beta related things before launch to give all players an even start. You already gained knowledge and insight into the game mechanics before everyone else did. That's not enough? You can use it to build up your Items/BP's/Whatever faster than any square 1 newbie could.
Besides, you're not really playing the game yet, you're testing, so you haven't worked for anything but bug squatting, and setting the game mechanics on fire...most of them are BBQ-proof. Not all. But most of them.

Yes! Methinks that this game plays like Etherlords on steroids, or like paraworld done right. Story is a bit on the shallow side, but the game mechanics make up for that. Now you only have to do the hat-trick to appeal to a wide range of customers... which is always easier said than done. :bash:

I know a lot of games that didn't delete the beta testers accounts or items...

I meant you don't get points if someone just leaves/dies in the first two minutes not you can't do commands, but your not gunna win a true game in two minutes, not possible.

Just an idea to throw out there.

I think a badge system should be based off dm... like the bnet badges. People who do the sp the hardest way shouldn't get more... maybe like bps thats it. As for the sp difficulty, I like it being hard too but there are just places right now in the game that are impossible without exploiting glitchs.

Would be unfair for newbies to be pitted against beta testers, with full purple sets, full skill trees and what not. Flip the coin, would you like to play agianst a maxed out player in the beginning? It would make for a discouraging first MP expierience - something that wouldn't do WS any good.

Well, got myself another cup of coffee. Might have overlooked that then...
Your idea is what another game uses for ranked matches. If it is too short, it won't count as a game, and gathered stats will not be added to your global account.
Also, it might be a nice touch to see player's disconnects/forfeits. So you add up average gametime + number of disconnects = type of player.
Or, the person is not allowed to play again for a set amount of time, if the match time was shorter than x minutes in a row.

Meh, Most the open beta testers aren't very good yet and we are already 1.0.0

It seems like a decent system. I would like the x minutes in a row in the system...

From what I understand, you now get 3 points for a win and 0, 1, or 2 on a loss depending on how the game turns out.
Seems good to me. 0 points for quitters and 2 points for a hard battle. Haven't had the chance to test it, though - the kids are overpowering me in the battle for the PC. ;-)
Also, about not deleting beta accounts: this is one of the most stupid things that can happen to a game. Fair start on release is a must.
Well I don't want my account to be deleted but I will remove all relics, NO ONE wants to play the SP over again as it is right now... Also Ezsteel you don't see the flaw? Then here it is.
You get a friend, count down over a channel, phone, vent, or teamspeak and click start on 1v1 dm, you get matched up because of the exact click times. next once in game you click a bunch of times (to get most commands up) Next one leaves the game and because of most commands the leaver gets 1-2 points and the winner gets 5-6... Avg clicks = 100 in under a minute.

What are you talking about?
The winner always gets 3 points.
And where did you get the idea that loss points have something to do with commands? I tested this, did 200+ commands and got 0 points...
ezsteel, I did this before, just last night. you can get 1 point for commands and quit in a few seconds and get 1 point, unless they patched it already with 1.0.0 then as well when your friend quits, you get 5-6 points on avg.

I don't know about last night but the current version definitely gives only 3 points for wins and the battle points for losses have nothing to do with commands.
well i just got 1 for insta quit and 5 for not leaving.

the system will match only even players when its completely working, so no newbies will fight against all purple players. moreover i would be really disappointed about loosing all stuf and i think all players already owning some good items would agree to me
yeah, I'm more sad to loose all the sp locations... those are a pain to get... relics just take time... SP takes time + restraint to not break your computer :P
