You can play as the admirable, godlike Autokrator Christou himself : There will be a scenario with the Western and Eastern Empire (408 AD), a scenario of Justinians age [may he rest in peace] (500 AD) and a campaign in which you can conquer half of the world as Arabs or defend the Roman Empire and it's rightfully possessions. (630 AD)
EDIT : Defeating the Arabs will be very hard; they get a religion bonus of 750%

whoa! That IS a bonus, I must admit. btw, didn't you say that you wouldn't make a mod where the Romans would be in decline? Changed your mind?

I wouldn't let them loose ;)
Arabs have a bonus of 750% percent but they fight against one of the largest and mightiest empires of the world. In half of my games, even when both factions are AI controlled, the arab conquest never takes place ... it's very balanced I think.
Lulz largest....they were small.....look at the Mongol Khanate...China..Loool
Buti cant say they werent good, they didnt have barbaric rituals like those Mongols..remember what they did when Genghis KHan rested his shorts..
look at the Mongol Khanate...
Look at the density of population and the level of urbanisation in the Mongol khanate.
Besides, we're talking the in-game sizes here.
A challenger appears...
He was talking bout size...

You really want to compare the civilisized, urbanized and enlighted empire of Rome and BYZANTIUM with those horse-smelling barbarians ? :bash:

Lynch him ! (:) )
One great Russian historian had said - "The nomad, sitting high on his horse, sees further away than the farmer whose eyes are stuck in the ground and the plow". Don't be too surprised to learn that the 'horse-smelling barbarians' often incorporated the best parts of various other cultures (Chinese, Indians, Persians, Romans/Byzantines etc) into their own.

Wasn't he the guy with the skull pyramide in Delhi? Yeah definetly he adopted the roman culture; he just ... missinterpreted it a little bit.
Seriously, do you know one nomadic empire which is an important nation today ? Look at the Mongols, it's actually difficult to find their little country on a world map today...

They couldnt survive because of their petty little fight inbetween, but,Tamerlane did bad things. And he was a chess mastermind.

You can't find Mongolia on the world map?!
P.S. Pretty much every nation today eventually started out as nomadic hunter-gatherers, but if that's not enough - Hungary, while not exactly a superpower, is a rather important country today (at least not really a small one either). Then again, culture and "important nation today" aren't necesarily the same either - Rome (or Byzantium) is gone as well and so are ancient Egypt, Persia, the Greek city-states (and Macedon) etc. etc. ;)

Oh my interwebz. Another thread goes comedy gold. And I've been wondering why I frequent this forum rather than icanhascheezburger.com

Turks are nomads, too. And look to Turkey today. We are in the G20 and in some years in the EU, too.
(I donīt want to dicuss about politics now, somebody could say Turkey is nothing and unimportant but it doesnīt interest me, so letīs talk about the AAR again, not about civilisations.)
Yeah, good example (how didn't I think of it) - Turkey's a pretty important country today, even if only for the 4th largest army in the world (though it has other things besides that as well).
Who are you talking to, whom are you talking about and what are you talking about? I.e. who's "attacking" who about some shrinking empire?
You mean?
Ahh... Seeing my old posts really makes me angst... My language-skill has improving a lot these few years....
God-damn it :P
