elvain,
concerning the region of Rus' with the question mark. You're looking for the word "Moksha", it's the river and ethnonym for the western mordva (mordvin people). The word "Mordva" would fit the region as well.

As far as I see, the Mordvan city on that map is named Мохши (Mohši (if the š is "sh", I'm not so sure about those symbols) or Mokshi). However, the Wiki says that it was named Mokshi when it was a part of the Golden Horde (after 1237) and before that it was called Нуриджан (Наручать, Наручадь) - Nuridzhan (Naruchat, Naruchad), today it's called Narovchat, but that doesn't matter much for the map.

As for the region, you can name it after the river Moksha, for this toponym seems to preceed the ethnonym. The river's only 2 kilometers from this Nurijan/Narovchat. But then again, unlike other nations Mordvins seem remarkably home-bound, living in the same place throughout centuries.

elvain, is all of this at an specific time or time range, or are u just generically saying medieval europe and doing a general 'overall' of how-where-when each region/province/etc, was and was named?
just curious.
